    Michael Kors Sample Sale

At this point I think everyone and their grandmother has sent us a link or an email forward of the Michael Kors sample sale. Even Peachy Deegan, of Whom You Know, was sending us a code red fashion alert.

So the day came and Racked published the details, “a solid 75% off of everything still means Kors’ $1,595 dresses are $399.” A steal, nah.

The $399 price tag is steep but we have a bigger problem with the 75% off. Three days after Christmas the boutique prices were 70% off. There is no way that a sample sale experience is worth the 5% difference.

The sale runs through Saturday — more details below– we suggest you wait until then if you’re really dying for some MK. Maybe they will do another markdown for the last day?!

    Where:
    Metropolitan Pavilion
    125 W 18th St
    (b/n 6th and 7th aves)

    Friends and Family Day:
    Thursday, March 19 – noon to 8pm

    Public Shopping:
    Friday, March 20 – 9am to 7pm
    Saturday, March 21 – 9am to 7pm

Free Stay at the Wynn or Encore

Today’s weather was gorgeous– but it’s March –and it’s back to being cold tomorrow. This is the time of year that we all really become intolerant of the cold. It’s enough! And it’s been a long winter. Isn’t it the perfect time to head out on for a mini-holiday, as they would call it in the UK.

Airfares are cheap and the Las Vegas Wynn and Encore hotels are enticing guests with two free nights. Dan’s Deals promises that there are no strings attached. No minimum stay. No hidden fees. All you need to do is use your American Express Platinum Card or Centurion Card and pay the normal room tax, which runs $25 a night. The offer runs until April 25th and there are several black out dates, which are listed below.

The Wynn is the world’s most expensive resort, topping out at $2.7 Billion in construction fees. The Encore, which opened just two months ago, is the sister multi-billion dollar tower built just adjacent to the Wynn. Friends have used the promotion to coordinate long weekends by booking two nights at the Wynn and another two at the Encore.

Your Platinum travel concierge should easily be able to hook you up. If asked, the promotion ID number is E1320401. You should even be entitled to your normal Platinum/Centurion privileges, which includes a free breakfast and dinner.

    Here are the blackout dates:
    03/05-03/07
    03/19-03/21
    03/23-03/24
    03/27-03/28
    03/31-04/02
    04/15-04/21

    Threads Replaced by PB Teen

Looks as if Pottery Barn isn’t so ready to give up it’s tony Second Avenue retail space. Last month, we reported that the Threads concept store was closing. In it’s place will be PB Teen, which is slated to open March 21st.

PBteen began as a catalog and web site in 2003, and the first stand alone store opened in Atlanta, in Oct. 2008. The brand describes itself as “a fun line of exclusive furniture and accessories from Pottery Barn, created just for teenagers.”

We imagine that teens in Atlanta might dig the concept but children in NYC– on the Upper East Side– are much more sophisticated. We wouldn’t be surprised if the store demographic skews downwards from teen to the 4 to 9-year-old age bracket.

    Juicy Couture Friends and Family

We are going to start this off by saying that there isn’t a person here who has over owned, worn, will own, or will ever wear a velour track suit. Now that we have that out of the way…

Juicy Couture is hosting a friends and family sale where “almost” absolutely everything –except fragrances and strollers–will be 25% off. The promotion runs from March 19 to March 22nd and is only valid at Juicy Couture retail locations. So go to the Fifth Avenue store and don’t fight with a Bloomingdales sales associate.

We cannot and will not be responsible for how this coupon is used. We’re just going to hope it’s for shoes or something for your kids.

The shopping incentive runs until Sunday, March 22nd. On a quick run through the fourth floor we spotted winter boots 50% off and a rack of shoes ranging from 30% to 50% off. There was even a pair of berry colored Chanel flats on the discount wall!
