The Same Game: YSL Cage Boots

Every season an iconic piece of fashion emerges. Sometimes it’s a belt at a particular width, could be a bag with a noticeable print or the intricate pleating of a skirt. This season, YSL seems to have captured a look with their Cage Boots. Rumoured to be sold out shortly after the collection arrived, we were surprised to see these wearable (or unwearable) pieces of art reduced.

In the spirit of Madison Avenue Spy–lets play The Same Game!

YSL Cage Boots: Retail price $1,590
    Barneys:$949.00
Bergdorfs:$1590– will be reduced on June 3rd either 30% or 40%
    eBay: $1700
    YSL Boutique: $999
Saks: $1590 –will be reduced 30% on June 1 to $1113

    Roger Vivier Private Sale

We got a postcard this week announcing a five day sale at Roger Vivier. Most of this season’s style are 30% to 40% off. Some bags and clutches are included in the sale but sunglasses and the classic square pilgrim shoe are not.

The private sale runs through Sunday and then prices go back up. We think they will yo-yo the prices a few more times before the season is over but we don’t expect the discount to go higher than 40%.

    Marni 30% to 40% Off

Marni’s sale has officially started. Ready-to-wear is 30% off but accessories will be 40% off for the first time ever. Rumours are that second cut is just a few weeks away and will be 50%.

The sale is also available on the Marni site. The above dress was $1120 and is now $784. A ruched lambskin leather shoulder bag was $1655 and is now $993. A jacquard orange and brown check sleeveless top was $955 and is now $669.

    Saks and Barneys 1st Markdown

The department stores are going to their first markdown. At Saks, shoes, handbags, clothing and other accessories will range from 30% to 40% off. The sale officially starts Monday but presale is underway. The call we received from a first floor specialist detailed the handbag department– Bottega Veneta bags are 40% but Jimmy Choo and Gucci are just 30% off.

Meanwhile uptown, Barneys is marking their designers down 40%. The sale is also online but beware, there are many shoe styles that didn’t sell when there were 70% off this winter.

The good department store markdowns may be slow but they are coming. Until then we’ll keep a watchful eye

    Jeffery Presale Begins

    Hi, Lila.

    How are you?

You probably heard we are pre-selling most styles. I have a blog with pictures of many styles that you are welcome to check out. www.shopmichelle.blogspot.com

I do have items that are not on the blog. If you have specific collections you are interested in, I would be glad to send you pictures of those.

I am in the store from 10 am until 6 pm this evening.
I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best-

Editorial note: The discount is 40% off.

    McQueen 40% Off

There’s still a good chance to get a good deal on Alexander McQueen even if you did bypassed the Target line. The spring summer collection goes on sale June 2nd but you can register online now for presale “opportunities.”

This seems to be a cool high tech way to presale. Sure beats getting dozens of random “we’re-going-on-sale” phone call while you are fighting to catch a cab. Could you imagine what fashion industry would do if they had to give up fax machines?

    Prada Presale Begins

Prada’s presale begins Friday. Ready-to-wear is 50% off and accessories are 40% off. Even with the steep discount we are hard pressed to find anything worth buying and we usually drool over anything with a Prada lable. Can anyone clarify what is up with this white-paper-bag-with-black-ribbon look?
