    Jeffery Presale Begins

    Hi, Lila.

    How are you?

You probably heard we are pre-selling most styles. I have a blog with pictures of many styles that you are welcome to check out. www.shopmichelle.blogspot.com

I do have items that are not on the blog. If you have specific collections you are interested in, I would be glad to send you pictures of those.

I am in the store from 10 am until 6 pm this evening.
I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best-
    Michelle

Editorial note: The discount is 40% off.

    McQueen 40% Off

There’s still a good chance to get a good deal on Alexander McQueen even if you did bypassed the Target line. The spring summer collection goes on sale June 2nd but you can register online now for presale “opportunities.”

This seems to be a cool high tech way to presale. Sure beats getting dozens of random “we’re-going-on-sale” phone call while you are fighting to catch a cab. Could you imagine what fashion industry would do if they had to give up fax machines?

    Prada Presale Begins

Prada’s presale begins Friday. Ready-to-wear is 50% off and accessories are 40% off. Even with the steep discount we are hard pressed to find anything worth buying and we usually drool over anything with a Prada lable. Can anyone clarify what is up with this white-paper-bag-with-black-ribbon look?

    Woodbury Commons Weekend

The holiday weekend is upon us, which usually means major outlet reductions. We went to Woodbury Commons to scoop out the situation and found that many of the outlet stores have become a bit more conservative with their markdowns. There are still some good deals to be had but beware, some neighborhood boutiques actually have better prices. Here are the details:

    Bottega Veneta:
All ready-to-wear is an additional 50% off for the long weekend. Some reject bags are also 50% off but most leather accessories are priced better at the Fifth Avenue boutique, which publicly starts their 50% off sale Friday.

    Chloe
All ready-to-wear is an additional 50% off. Bags and shoes are temporarily reduced 10%, 25% or 40% off for the weekend. The racks look pretty well picked over. Die-hard Chloe fans will fair much better buying this season’s clothing on sale at the boutique.

    Dior:
The additional temporary markdown is 40% off fall/winter ’08 ready-to-wear. There is a small collection of clothing from spring/summer ’08 that’s 75% off but there is a reason why it’s all still there…
    845-928-4602

    Dolce & Gabbana:
This is the store to hit if you’re looking for an old fashioned good deal. Almost everything in the store is an additional 65% off for the weekend. We found lots of summer ’08 clothing, including bathing suits and D&G dresses thet were priced under the $200 mark. Lots of Dolce & Gabbana collection pieces that started at $2000+ are about $250 to $350. That’s a good deal, even in my book.

    Fendi:
For the weekend, Fendi is offering an additional 50% to 60% off already reduced merchandise. Everything is priced as marked. Most items are about $399 from about $2000-ish. There is a small rack of items that’s $199 and another rack of $99 items, which included lots of basic sweaters and black skirts. Shoes are an extra 60% to 75% off. Black high boots, which started at $1000 are now $380, black booties are $247.
    845-928-5448

    Giuseppe Zanotti:
Most of the selection is 75% off the originally price. We found a pair of classic flats with a jeweled toe ring for just $142. They are currently at Saks for $346 reduced from $495. There are some great deals here but sizes are a bit scattered. A pair of rhinestone encrusted shoes started at $1000 and are $250 but there are only size 7s and 10s.

    Prada:
The markdown that happened in February is the only markdown in the store and there were be no additional discounts for Memorial weekend. The best deals were from last year’s spring collection were we found a $600 Caribbean blue Miu Miu skirt reduced to $150. The sales manager did inform us that on Friday morning they will be rolling out a rack of samples and damaged clothing. This rack alone might be worth the hour drive. Click here to see what samples we found out our last Prada Outlet trip.

    YSL:
Shoes and handbags are an additional 20% off for the holiday weekend and ready-to-wear is an additional 40% off. We didn’t find any outstanding clothing below the four-digit mark but did come across a mini Uptown purse that comes out to $800 from $2100. Those platform shoes from last spring, which are treaded like a stock car’s wheels are now $300 from $1055 and a very cute raffia Tribute tote now comes out to just $320.

Markdowns at Gucci, Bottega and More

Many stores along the Avenue have already started steep discounts ranging from 40% to 50% off. Those who haven’t are lowering prices this week. Here’s the scoop:

    Bottega Veneta:
We got an excited phone call filling us in about the sale that starts Friday. Presale is underway. Sounds like everything is 50% off. Yes, that includes bags. This type of markdown is unheard of for the Fifth Avenue boutique. Too bad their color-way was a big bore this season.
    Tatiana 212-371-5511

    Gucci:
The double G semi-annual sale starts June 1st. Presale officially starts Friday but go ahead and make your selections now if you haven’t done so already. The discount ranges from 30% to 50% off.
    Nora 212-717-2619

    Frette:
The fine linens company has reduced prices 50% at their Madison Avenue boutique. Spring bedding and accessories are all half-off. What’s interesting is that Frette’s website is hosting an outlet sale until June 8th where items are 60% off. A classic robe was $275 and is now $110, a $2000 velvet throw is now $800 and a classic white duvet was $350 and is now $140.
    212-988-5221

    Krizia:
The boutique is just two blocks up from their old location but somehow it still doesn’t feel the same. The store itself is in a major need of a face lift but lets get back to the sale. Presale starts Friday for a 40% discount, not that anything looks very appealing.

    Scoop vs Intermix

The war of the boutiques is on. Both Scoop and Intermix are hosting designer 40% off sales that start Wednesday. We aren’t sure about what designers are included in the Scoop sale but Intermix ran the same promo last week and the discounted designers included Matthew Williamson, Missoni, Chloe, Balmain and on and on.

We think 40% is a good start but we’ll let these boutiques price war a bit longer before we start pulling out our wallets. Isn’t capitalism great?

    Children’s Showroom Sale

The children’s showrooms at 131 West 33rd Street are at it again. Petit Bateau, Magia Imports (Simonetta, Cavalli, Il Gufo and Armani Jr. etc) and Groupe Zannier (Kenzo, Cantimini, Tartine et Chocolat, Floriane etc) are all hosting sales with amazing discounts. As with most great sample sales there are also major lines. Some of the 100 plus people waiting to get into Zannier waited on 33rd St. for more than two hours.

The wait was worth the time and patience. Floriane dresses that retail for $100 to $170 are all $25, sweaters that retail for about $85 are all $20, and skirts there are normally about $100 are $20. IKKS, Cantimini, and Jean Bourget, dresses are all $20, shirts are $10 and winter coats are $40. There’s so much merchandise there that it’s better if you plan to go later in the day when there’s usually no line.

Our next stop was Petit Bateau, where everything was priced at about $20, There were lots of kid’s pajamas and boxed shirts, which range retail for $45 to $75 and are now $20. Blouses and shirts are $15 at the showroom and scarves are just $5. More shipments are coming in daily so make sure to ask a sales person if you don’t see what you want.

Finally we ended our shopping journey at Magia where they sliced prices a bit from where they were two weeks ago. Everything is now 50% to 50% off wholesale prices. We found gorgeous Simonetta dresses that retail for $700 were reduced to $180. A baby Il Gufo stretchy retails for $32 and now $7 at the sale.

The sale runs until Friday at all the above showrooms. If you love European kids clothing and hate the prices this is a sale not to miss. More details below:
