    Lord & Taylor’s Friends & Family

Lord & Taylor’s friends & family sale starts will begin on Monday, October 15th run through Tuesday, October 23rd. Normally, L&T would not be noteworthy but the department store is the only place that still includes fragrance and cosmetics in their f&f sales.

The discount in the beauty department is 10% off and Chanel, Dior and Fekkai are included. Throughout the rest of the store you can save 25% off and there are only limited exclusions.

The midtown store carries a vast array of Ferregamo shoes, which are included in the promotion. Burberry is also included along with, Jonathan Adler home goods and bedding. It’s just too bad that you have to pass so many good department stores to get to L&T.

Inside the David Yurman Sample Sale

    By ManhattanMataHari

The David Yurman sample sale started Thursday to mixed reviews. The discount ranges from 30% to 60% discounts and 10% of the proceeds going to breast cancer charity. The sale runs through Sunday but if you can’t make it you can always check out the David Yurman outlet, which offers similar discounts all year round.

Inside you will find the sterling collection marked down 30%, but no classic cable bracelets are available. You will find several confetti collection pieces in peridot as well as pearl cables and cuffs. There are lots of semiprecious cushion-cut rings, most plentiful in size 7. There are some stacked cable diamond embellished rings available too, although even with the discount were still pricey.

The 18K collection and  yellow gold and silver assortment were discounted steeper at 40% and 50% respectively. There is a great selection of white gold rings and earrings and lots of long necklaces with semi-precious stone beads. The watch selection is quite limited, but all timepieces are 50% off retail.

We are told that the sale may get an influx or new items on Friday but we wouldn’t expect classic Yurman pieces to appear. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find many items that were actually 60% off. We are told that there will not be additional markdowns, so go early to get the best selection. If the less than dazzling Yurman assortment isn’t catching your eye you can always wait until next week when the Chorpard sale is scheduled to begin at Soiffer Haskin.

It’s really simple: When you shop for new shoes at participating retailers and pay at the register, you may be a lucky winner! Along with a free pair of shoes, winners will have their photo taken in Central Park and will receive an invitation to a reception in the Park later that afternoon.

Then next week, you can slip on that new pair of Cinderella slippers (or stilettos) and participate in a quarter-mile Walk in the Park. The walk will begin at the Central Park Conservancy tent on corner of Madison Avenue and 67th Street at 11:00am and continue in Central Park to conclude at East 72nd Street off Fifth Avenue. Sample sale shoppers buckle your seat belts because we entering the early stages of sale season and we know this can get a bit manic. We start off the season on a high note, two great designers are hosting insider sample sales.

Both Jil Sander and Devi Kroell have sent insiders invitations to attend and rsvp to their sample sales. The Devi Kroell sale will start Monday and run through Thursday. We are told that shopping is by appointment only but you can rsvp to appointment@devikroell.com

During the last Devi Kroell sale we found bags that ranged from the basic for $150 (retail $900) to $800 for a metallic exotic skin style (normally $3100). Smaller bags and clutches a at the sale ranged in price from $100 to $250. Sample size shoes (37s or 40s) were $50 and $100 for boots. Non-samples were priced between $100 to $250 for high boots. You can find more past-sale details here.

The Jil Sander sale basically follows the same non-strict rsvp rules. This bi-annual sale will start Tuesday and run through Saturday. During past sales, shoppers scooped up clothing, shoes, bags and accessories for about 85% off retail. Since last sale was mainly winter merchandise we wouldn’t be surprised if most of the inventory is overstock from summer 2012. You can see prices and details from the past sale here.

    Madison Ave Worldly Things Closing

The Madison Avenue boutique, Worldly Things may be better known among those who carry an AARP card but after 30 years this neighborhood mainstay is closing its doors. The store, which is located on Madison and 70th Street, is hosting an “End of an Era” sale where most merchandise is discounted 50% to 70% off.

Although much of the fashion would not be considered modern by today’s standards, one has to admire the craftsmanship and product quality carried in this boutique. While talking to the store owner, he highlighted several cashmere coats that were all and sown. (Couture anyone?)

As expected, this type of quality usually comes with a high price tag but the discounts do make the fashion a lot more affordable. Coats, which range from $1800 to about $2400 are now 50% off. Silk scarves are $100. Sweaters that resemble Chanel’s tweeds and multi-color knits are now $500 from $1400.

Younger shoppers might appreciate the accessories. We found the most adorable lizard bag that looked to be inspired by the mini-Hermes Kelly for $750 from $2500. A CDC-inspired belt was $300.

The boutique officially closes in December and we expect that extra discounts will be taken. Between now and then you might need to make a date with mom or grandma to show off your shopping prowess. We are sure she will be impressed!

    Amazing Outnet Marni Sale

So, we got browsing and one link took us to another and we landed on the Outnet, which is much too often overlooked when it comes to shopping for great deals. Right now the site is hosting Marni as their highlighted designer and we were surprised to see such a great selection at 50% to 88% off.

Truthfully there are so many great items in our “bag” it’s going to be hard to choose. We choose the a metallic jacquard coat that’s $518 from $2070 or 75% off, a chocolate ruched crepe dress reduced from $1170 to $187 or 75% off and a contrasting sleeveless cashmere sweater $217 from $910, also 75% off.

Did we mention that there is a full assortment of shoes and accessories that are all priced under $150. We can’t believe that there is still so much merchandise left considering the lines at H&M for made-in-China Marni.

Giambattista Valli starts October 18th and we hope that the markdowns are as good as they are on Marni.

    KamaliKulture 50% Off

For one evening only, Norma Kamali is inviting customers to shop through her all under-$100 KamaliKulture collection. The sale promotion will only be available at the designer’s West 56th Street boutique from 5:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday.

You can browse through the frugally classic collection here. A full range of sizes will be available for customers to try on during the sale but all purchases will ultimately be made online and shipped.

Next week, the designer will be hosting a dedicated OMO sale. You can RSVP to MarissaS@normakamali.com for Wednesday’s sale.

    Cinzia Rocca’s Samples on Sale

Cinzia Rocca specializes in high-end leather, wool and cashmere coats that are made in Italy from the highest quality fabrics. The collection is sold at at stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom and basic styles normally retail for about $1000 and more.

Through October 19, Cinzia Rocca fans can snag true designer samples at a fraction of their retail prices. When we say designer samples we mean the literal term, which translates to a true size 6. That also means there is typically only one of each style.

Sample sale prices range from $200 for girls coats to $1000 for a fur trimmed woman’s coat. We suggest sticking to the “walking coats” or knee length styles because they are the most versatile in our urban lifestyle. They are also the most abundant and affordability priced at just $400. Capes and short jackets are even less expensive at $300 each. Long coats without fur are $500.
