    This Week’s Best Sample Sales

There are so many sample sales scheduled that shopping starts to feel like a big decision rather than a leisurely activity. To help you sort through the madness, we put together a list of this week’s sales that we think are worthy of your holiday season effort. Let us know if you think we missed anything spectacular.

    Chanel Treasures at Last Call

Early last week we got a tip that there was a nice assortment of Chanel clothing at the Neiman Marcus Last Call, in Jersey Gardens Mall. We didn’t believe it at first but also couldn’t help ourselves from staying away.

Lo and behold, in the rear of the stor, there is a section of assorted Chanel ready to wear that’s marked an additional 30% off. A teal tweed shift dress comes out to about $1600 from a retail price of about $7000. A gold lame dress with pearl detailing is about $3300 from a retail of about $11,000. A classic winter white wool dress is about $1500 from a starting price of $6000 and lace plants are about $612 from over $2000. (You can see a full set of pictures right here.)

Take note, there is just one style of each item. Sizes range from size 36 to 40. The best part, however, is that there is no sales tax on clothing in New Jersey. You can consider that another savings of almost 10% from New York.

If you’re outside the New York area, we suggest exploring your local Last Call outlet. We are told that a store in Chicago has full length Chanel tweed coats. The prices there, range from an outlet price of $2000 to $8000 from retail prices of $11000 to $26000. Obviously these are all still very expensive prices but it’s Chanel, babe.

    Chanel Presale Begins, Louboutin Too

Presale on Chanel merchandise is beginning at major department stores. Clothing, shoes and a small selection of bags will be discounted 40%. Chanel boutiques, however, have not promoted their sale yet to customers.

Nordstrom stores that carry Chanel–Seattle, Portland, Mall of America etc– are assisting customers already. Closer to home, Saks Fifth Avenue will accept presale purchases on Monday for Chanel. The markdown officially begins on Friday, December 13.

The Louboutin presale will begin Thursday, which is just one day before the actual sale. You can click here to see a election of shoes that we believe will be included in the markdown. Feel free to post any questions in the comment section below.

Early Access: Nancy Gonzalez Sample Sale

Just in time for the holidays,

The Down Low on Department Store Sales

This week, mark the official start of discount season. Almost all designer brands are on the sale list. (Chanel and Louboutin are still the exceptions.) At all of our department stores, fall and winter clothing is discounted 40% off but the prices of shoes and handbags vary greatly.

Take note, some boutiques offer even lower discounts than the department store. For instance, Tom Ford and Prada are both offering customers a 50% savings. Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks. Take note, online discounts are the same as the stores.

Warm-Up Sample Sale: White + Warren

As the days are getting shorter and the weather is cooler, it’s just natural to feel the need to snuggle up with cashmere. We couldn’t think of a better way to stock up on cold-weather warmth than at the White + Warren sample sale.

The sale will run just two days– this Thursday and Friday. Cashmere sweaters will start at $100, non-cashmere items will start at $30 and accessories will be $40 and up.

White + Warren was founded in 1997 with a simple mission–to bring quality cashmere to fashion-savvy women. The collection has expanded to include top-to-toe fashion items. Don’t miss White + Warren online if you can’t shop the sample sale. We like to think of the site as our winter survival kit.

Get Shoes at TheOutnet Clearance Sale

TheOutnet is hosting their bi-annual clearance sale and a wide assortment of designer goodies are reduced 85% off. We spent some time browsing through the site and were rather impressed by the great looking shoes that were included in the clearance promotion.

Check out these Pierre Hardy color blocked lace-ups that are $265 from $1325. Rick Owens leather wedge sandals are a steal at $367 from over $1300 and these quirky Charlotte Olympia platforms are $295 from $1475.

The selection outside the show department is a bit light but we did find a striking Erdem velvet print gown for $631 from $3155, an adorable Marni color blocked poplin dress is $170 from $1372 and a Matthew Williamson romper is $159 from $795.

The sale runs for another five days but suggest shopping the sale sooner rather than later. With these types of discounts it’s not surprising that merchandise and sizes are going very quickly.

Inside the Yigal Azrouel Sample Sale

Yigal Azrouel has quickly become one of our favorite designers. His clothing is edgy and youthful without looking overdone or overly-sexy. This season’s sample sale doesn’t start until Tuesday but we couldn’t help ourselves from spying a day early– and we are sure glad we did.

Last year, the sample sale was held at the designer’s boutique in Soho but this season shoppers will need to head to the company’s showroom, in the garment district, to shop for coveted Yigal and Cut25. Sample prices are the most attractive but there is only one of each item and the best merchandise was being snatched up by employees. We grabbed this Cut25 blouse for $40 from $310 along with an all black version of this jacket for $40 from $495. A Yigal bodycon dress was $60 and the designer’s high-end leather skirt was $125. All Yigal samples are $60 and Cut25 samples are $40. Leather Cut25
samples are $90 and Yigal leather samples are $125.

While there is less open stock than last season, there are still lots of great items from which to choose. One of the hottest items was this shearling and leather combo coat that was priced at $500 from $2900. This Yigal Azrouel leather-panel pencil skirt was $150 from $590 and Cut25 sweaters were $100. Yigal blouses and tops are $125 and Cut25 blouses and tops are $100. Full pricing details are in the image to the left. (Click on the picture to enlarge)

In addition to all the women’s finds, there are also a few racks of men’s clothing.  Today, there were hardly any men shopping but there are bound to be more tomorrow. Women should take note that there is no dressing room. We suggest dressing in sample sale attire or leggings and a tank for optimal modesty.
