    Second Markdowns Begin: Saks & NAP

    It’s hardly the middle of June and many designer retailers are beginning take another price cut. Saks Fifth Avenue is currently the leader for the best deals with Net-A-Porter following quickly behind. Barneys started with the best discount, so it will be some time until we see another price cut but Bergdorf Goodman should begin their second markdown very soon.

    Taking a closer look at Saks, you can find this Valentino camo tote for $721 from $1545, this Va-Va Voom Mini studded Valentino clutch is $1095 from $2345 and Saint Laurent Tribute sandals are $418 from $895. The best deal is absolutely the Valentino jelly sandals that are $173 from $295. These new prices just became effective online too.

    Over at Net-a-Porter, you can find lots of interesting items on double markdown. Most clothing is now about 50% off but some spring merchandise is now reduced 70%. Take this Roland Maurent crepe top with an open back, it’s $226 from $755. A floral Nina Ricci dress is is $300 from almost $1000 and this Jason Wu jumpsuit is $600 from $1985. From the shoe section you can’t go wrong with these Mother of Pearl slip on sneakers that are now $111 from $370, Antonio Berardi sandals are about $900 from $3000 and these rainbow Shourouk earrings are $310 from $755.

    Christian Louboutin Sale Begins, Officially

    Missed out on the Christian Louboutin sample sale this season? Fret not, the Madison Avenue –and Soho and Meatpacking– boutiques will start their markdown on Thursday for “insiders”. The discount is a solid 40%, which is only matched by Barney’s. Expect to find an assortment of handbags and fashion shoes (no classic colors or styles) from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

    If the past is any indication, there will be a long line to get into the boutique and it will be busy. We suggest you avoid this by stopping by the store the day before to buy your red-soled wish list since they will not be restocking.

    Unfortunately, sales associates were unable to provide details on exactly what will be included, but naturally our spies got the inside info. If you are coveting a specific style, we suggest calling ahead to see if it is included prior to making the trip.

    Stella McCartney Markdown

    Stella McCartney is hosting a spring sale where spring merchandise is discounted up to 40% off. Bags and shoes are discounted 30% and clothing is 40% off.

    It turns out that Stella had a great season and some of the best items sold out as soon as they hit the sales floor. We were highly surprised to see that even one of these surrealist appliqué embroidery dresses made it to sale season. A size 42 can be had for $1773 from $2955. This oversized silk duchesse dress was also a huge hit and is now $1400 from $2340.

    Our favorite items, however, are from the Stella x Adidas activewear. Pink and grey leggings are $56 from $80 and the matching tank is $60 from $85. We don’t necessarily suggest matching your kicks to your workout wear but these are very nice at $112 from $160. This low waste tee is so much more than gym cloths and is $63 from $90.

    The sale also includes select Falabella bags at 30% off, along with assorted wallets and clutches.

    Save the Date: Dolce & Gabbana Sample Sale

    We just received word that Dolce & Gabbana will be hosting an exclusive 4-day sample sale beginning Friday, June 20. Merchandise will include items for men, women, children, handbags and shoes from prior to the 2014 collection. Prices will be up to 90% off.

    During last year’s sale, we found the most recent merchandise to be discounted 60%, the prior year 70% and the year before that 80% and even older merchandise was 90% off. Archival items were discounted 60% off. We found a body-con corset dress for $400 from almost $4000. Shoes were marked between $50 and $250 and handbags were all under $250.

    We suggest hitting this sale early because the most desirable items tend to go quickly when they are marked 90% off retail. Really, how much more of a discount can you expect?

    Proenza Schouler 50% Off

    Proenza Schouler is hosting a spring sale where merchandise is discounted 50%. Some of the designer’s most iconic items, including bags, are included in the markdown.

    Our favorite PSII tote with exotic snakeskin, which is perfect as a chic briefcace, is about $2000 from almost $4000. A non-exotic version of the bag is $1225 from $2250. This heavy metal Minaudière is $1100 from $2200.

    Within the clothing section you can grab this print crewneck for $312 from $625, a sleeveless dress with oversized hardware is $1245 from $2490 and a classic white pleated dress is $390 from $780.

    You should absolutely check out Proenza’s take on the Birkenstock, which is now $300 from $600 and these studded heels that are now $425. The sale also includes a large variety of wallets and brightly printed pajama sets.

    Saint Laurent Presale

    Most department stores have already started their markdowns on Saint Laurent clothing, shoes, bags and accessories. The YSL boutique sale, however, won’t begin until June 7. Presale is already underway.

    Clothing is 50% off, shoes, bags, and accessories are 30% off. If you’re interested in a bag, the largest selection is among the duffel style. Even the black is included in the discount lineup. Sac du Jours, Y-Linge and Clous bracelets are not included in the markdown.

    For several seasons we’ve been hearing of the demise of the Tribute shoe. At this point, we don’t think it’s unlikely that Hedi Slimane would cut-off the lucrative revenue stream. This season, we especially like the studded stripy sandals and the Gourmette Cuff. The next markdown will happen in July when the discount goes to 60%.

    The Best Louboutin Discount

    Department stores have started presale on Christian Louboutin shoes. Discounts on the red soles usually come a few weeks later than the general shoe department. The markdown is 30% at Saks Fifth Avenue but 40% at Barneys. The sale officially begins on June 12.

    Below is a photo montage of the  discount Louboutin selection from Saks.  Further below is an overview of the inventory from Barneys.

    The selection at Barneys is very similar to what can be found at Saks but includes iterations of the same styles. We would love to suggest waiting for a second markdown but it’s usually not wise to hold off for extra savings if the size is available now in the style you want.

    Jimmy Choo First Markdown

    Fans of Jimmy Choo shoes were terribly upset when the designer decided not to hold his annual sample sale. Those looking to save a bit on pointy-toe shoes can head to the designer’s boutique and  online store and save about 30% during the spring sale.

    The 30% discount at Jimmy Choo is about the same at most retailers and department stores. The big difference is that the Jimmy Choo stores have a larger selection than any single retailer. this season, the designer’s sale  also includes men’s merchandise.

    Some of our favorite  sale items are these holographic spike heels that are $557 from almost $800 and these Whirl flats, which are supposedly super comfortable and come in a variety of colors. The rope constructed sandals worn by Nicole Kidman in the designer’s summer ad campaign are now $1400 from $2000. Over in the bag section there is a two-tone Charlize clutch that’s $1537 from $2195 and the Rania, in black, is $1085 from $1550.

    If these markdowns aren’t enough for your wallet, the designer is likely to add more discounts in July. It’s not unhead of to find a department store Jimmy Choo discounted 60%.
