    Fashion Week: Drapey Pants

Fashion week is officially over. Now is the best time to take a step back and review everything we’ve seen over the last week. We are serving up all smoking hot trends so that you know what to expect on the street and in the pages of your favorite fashion magazines come next winter.

Tia Cibani, Bibhu Mohapatra, Donna Karan

Drapey and slouchy pants have a reputation for being difficult to wear and the rumors are true. Even though getting the right fit and proportions can be difficult, there is a big payoff when you hit it right. Coming this fall, expect to see a lot more flowey pants.

Make no mistake, these aren’t the drawstring pants we’ve been seeing for the past several seasons. The pants shown on the runway were made of luxe fabrics, like wool, velvet and cashmere. The one aspect that changes is the length of the pants. Donna Karan showed her version cropped while Tia Cibani’s were extra long.

This style is usually easier to pull off if you’re petite and have narrow legs and hips. If that isn’t the case try layering a jacket or bulky sweater over your midsection is another option.

    Fashion Week: That 70s Show

Fashion week is already starting to wind down. We are serving up all smoking hot trends while we get through the last days of shows. These top trends are what you can expect to see on the street and in the pages of your favorite fashion magazines, next winter.

Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff, Cushnie et Ochs

Watching old 70s television shows and movies are always fashion inspiring. The hair, the suede, the fringe– it’s all so Charlie’s Angles sexy. Fashion designers collectively feel the same way. For winter 2015, pants with wide legs and high waists and color ways including teal, pink and camel have been dominating many collections. Rebecca Minkoff channelled her groove with lots of fringe.

The newest resurgence of the 70s is the fur stole, which was shown worn over one shoulder and across the body like a beauty pageant sash.  Creatures of the Wind, Jason Wu and Thakoon are just a few designers that stole the show.

    Fashion Week: Head Popping Turtlenecks

Fashion week is already starting to wind down. We are serving up all smoking hot trends while we get through the last days of shows. These top trends are what you can expect to see on the street and in the pages of your favorite fashion magazines, next winter.

Tanya Taylor, Jill Stuart, Victoria Beckham

In the race to be cool the turtleneck is wining by much more than a hare. The cozy and body slimming favorite is popping up all over the runway. You can find the oldie-but-goodie tucked under fall dresses, as shown by Tanya Taylor and Jill Stuart. Victoria Beckham and various other designers showed oversized knits with a extra thick necks.

Diane Keaton and the late Steve Jobs are long time champions of the neck-warming basic. Now, you can bet they will be gobbling up your head soon too.

Limited Engagement: Dee Ocleppo (Hilfiger’s) Pop-Up

Tommy isn’t the only Hilfiger snagging the Fashion Week spotlight. This week, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger is showcasing her accessory and handbag line in a pop-up shop– hosted at Beautique. For your shopping convenience, the store is located between the Plaza Hotel and Bergdorf Goodman.

The Dee Oclepoo Spring 2015 bag collection offers customers interchangeable covers in exotic skins and leathers. Bright Rattan and fringed basket weave detailing give each bag a sense of playful, jet-set glamour. A favorite piece is the indispensable Roma Tote with its black weave and playful fringe offset by sleek white. The collection retails for between $995 and $3595.

The pop-up store will only be open through February 20th. So you’re really not going to want to hesitate if you want to get a jump on St. Tropez chic.

    Saks Sale Lives On, Online

Saks Fifth Avenue touted it’s final sale earlier this month with discounts frozen at 70% off. The merchandise has been officially cleared from sales floors and relocated online.

Right now, you can search some of the most fashionable items from designer’s winter collection discounted up to 60% off. (Remember, most all these items were once reduced 70% off but there was a no return policy.) This is a good opportunity to snag what’s left from winter sales without a lifetime commitment.

Some sale highlights include a Givenchy stopped pencil skirt for $519 from $1290, a Stella McCartney mesh sleeve dress is $569 from $1425 and this Altuzarra mixed patterned shirt dress is about $400 from almost $1000. The sale also includes shoes but the discount is just 50% off.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this winter merchandise were to hang out online for a bit longer. We would expect that there will be some additional surprise discounts but the markdown may not go above 70%.

Brian Atwood One Day Sample Sale

It’s been some time since Brian Atwood hosted a sample sale. Last time there was an hour wait to get into this designer sale. Considering the extreme cold, you might want to think twice before heading to the designer’s showroom in Chelsea.

We are told that the sale will consist of shoes from the fall 2014 collection and prices will be up to 70% off retail. At the last sale, sample sizes ranged from size 37 to 41, with a random scattering of 35s and 36s. The most plentiful assortment ranged from size 39 to 41.

At the last sale prices ranged from $350 to $400, with a scattering of flats for less money. Python heels were $500 and a few pair of boots were $1200. OTK boots–over-the-knee–were the most expensive at $2900. We would imagine that the price range will be quite similar.

Since the sale takes place at the designer’s showroom there is a chance that you may be able to call ahead to get information rather than freezing outside. Sale details, including the showroom phone number are below.
