Ralph Lauren Goes to 60% Off

We are nearing the height of the holiday season and Ralph Lauren isn’t wasting a moment luring customers. The designer is offering an extra 30% off online sale items, which brings the total discount to 60%. Most collections– including the Runway and Black Label–are eligible for the extra savings. Just use the code GIFT30 at checkout.

We took a look inside and found riding boots reduced to $634 from $1250, a velvet mini Ricky is $818 from $1950 and a chunky cable knit cashmere sweater is $713 from $1690. Over in the men’s department, we found a RLX down jacket for $90 from $225, a lightweight cashmere sweater is $132 from $350 and a custom fit Big Pony Polo is $35 from $98.

For some reason, this sale is only available online. You can always price compare from the inside the Mansion and ask a manager to make an adjustment  but it’s probably easier to just come home and shop. Below are more of our favorite items:

The Lowdown on Department Store Sales

Almost all seasonal merchandise in department stores is on sale. At most of our local shopping destinations, fall and winter clothing is discounted 40% off but the prices of shoes and handbags vary greatly.

Take note, some boutiques are offering even lower discounts than the department stores. For instance, Lanvin and Prada are both offering customers a 50% savings. Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue.

This season many stores are offering additional shopping incentives. Neiman Marcus and Saks are both offering reward gift cards with a purchase. Neiman Marcus is offering a $50 gift card on qualifying merchandise for every $200 you spend. Just use the code BONUS and Saks has a variety of spending benchmarks, which range from 10% to 20% in gift cards. Use the code DEC2015.

Here is your discount cheat sheet:

    Bergdorf Goodman Markdowns: 50% Off

We usually find that the discounts are better when you shop in stores but sometimes we get a curve ball. Today, Bergdof Goodman started an online only promotion where most merchandise that’s on sale is an additional 20% off. No code is needed.

Most designer merchandise was already reduced 40% and the extra discount brings the total savings to about 50%. This type of savings is equivalent to a second markdown, which doesn’t usually occur for another week. The discount also extends to shoes and bags.

Head right this way to snag a Dolce & Gabbana Je t’aime sequined sweater that’s reduced to $951 from $2000. A classic Lanvin dress trimmed with ribbons is $1575 from $3200 and Stella McCartney jewel embellished skirt is $583 from $1220.

The extra discount also applies to bags. An Alexander Wang studded bag is $551 from almost $1000, a Proenza Schouler PS11 is $1183 from almost $2500 and a fringed Valentino C-Rockee is $1050 from about $1875.

Check out these Jimmy Choo floral print pumps come to $375 from about $675 and buckle moto boots are $650 from $1150. Christian Louboutin shoes are still not marked down.

The extra 20% promotion runs through the weekend and then disappears. Second markdown usually becomes official the week before Christmas. We suggest you take advantage of this promotion while the inventory exists.

Holiday Travel Deals at Prime Luxury Destinations

There are few things we like as much as shopping and one is traveling. Uncovering deals at luxury resorts at the height of vacation season isn’t easy. As in retail, hotels are eager to unload excess inventory.

It’s not often that one comes accross a list of IT-destinations on sale. As a matter of fact, most of these destinations are officially completely sold out over New Years. Just leave it to our resident spies to uncover such a coveted list of properties on sale.

At Casa de Campo, for example, a stay from December 26 to January 2 in the two bedroom elite suite is reduced to $2100 a night (plus taxes and service fees) from almost $2800 a night. Elite balcony rooms for the same dates are marked down to about $715 (plus taxes and service fees) from $955 a night.

Over at the Gansevoort, in the Dominican Republic, a stay in the oceanfront three bedroom suite from December 26 to January 2, is marked down to just over $2900 (plus taxes and service fees) from nearly $4000. The two bedroom loft suite is $2220 (plus taxes and service fees) from almost $3000. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica,  Grand Velas in Rivera Maya and personal favorite, Nizuc, in Cancun, also have a few discounted suites that are priced similarly to the other examples.

To sweeten the deal, some properties are even offering two coach airline tickets when you complete your booking. That alone can be worth thousands, considering the current price of airline tickets to warm weather destinations. For more information about these offers email info@steeletravel.com.

The Outnet Discounts Offer Savings of 85%

The Outnet usually has an amazing clearance sale in March but it seems the site appears to have changed it’s markdown plan. Right now, you can shop from an amazing assortment of designer merchandise reduced up to 85%.

Unlike many sales that boast big discounts, this sale lives up to it’s hype. There are more than 300 items priced at just 15% of their original retail price. A two-tone Roland Mouret wool coat is $450 from over $3000, a snake print bondage dress by Christopher Kane is $377 from over $2500 and a Maison Marginal shirt dress is $235 from $1565.

Among the sale merchandise is The Outnet’s private label, Iris & Inc. Be sure to check out the cashmere sweaters that come out to under $70. The quality is really sublime for the price. This orange satin-twill skirt for $65 feels very Oscar and is perfect for a holiday party or any celebration if matched with navy sweater.

Take note that items are selling out quickly. We suggest putting anything you like in your cart and not taking too long to check out. Few things are more crushing than proceeding to checkout and find that the items you want are gone.

Inside the Christian Louboutin Sample Sale

This season, Christian Louboutin’s team faked us out and moved their exclusive sample sale over a month. Don’t fret, our moles still made it inside and report that prices are better than they have been in years.

Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for the most up-to-date spy photos and intel.

Most of the sample sale selection appears to be from the fall 2014 collection. (Do Louboutins go out of style?) Spies report  seeing a lot of spiked pumps and booties. Some boots and shoe styles have rainbow spikes and others have silver or gold studs. There aren’t a lot of slipper style flats but there are a lot of questionable looking high top sneakers. Swapping out your Uggs for knee-high fur lined boots would be a welcome change.

Prices start at just $200 for flats but most non-heel styles, even studded versions, were priced at the $250 mark. The most expensive style shoes have purple stickers and are $800. A majority of the heels and studded variety pumps are priced between $300 and $400. For example, studded kitten heels were $300 and $2300 studded knee high boots were just $600.

Other shoe styles that we  spotted at the sale were patent leather Militante 100mm, So Kate‘s with a Vernis Mouchete Leopard print, the Paulina pump, Pigalles with multi color spikes, studded flat Rom Chic spiked boots and Degraspike flats. There were also a lot of high-top sneakers like these or sky-high high heels that many shoppers were avoiding. Unfortunately, photography was prohibited and nobody wanted to risk their red sole. (You can click here to see pictures of shoes styles we found at the sale.)

Shoppers are limited to five pairs of shoes per person. There are several shopping assistants restocking shelves and helping shoppers locate specific styles. There were no lines to get into the sale today but we don’t expect that will be the case for the rest of the week. If you’re looking to slide your way past security you better at least know the name of a person who already RSVPed.

    Chanel & Louboutin Pre-Sale w/ Pics

Most stores have already started their first markdowns on contemporary and luxury lines but there are always a few brands that strong-arm all retail outlets to hold off on discounts. Starting now, you will be able to pre-sale seasonal merchandise from brands like Chanel and Louboutin at 30% to 40%, depending on the store and the item. The official sale markdown date is Friday, December 11.

Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for the most up-to-date spy photos and intel.

At the Chanel boutique clothing and shoes are discount 40%. In most department stores Chanel shoes are discounted 30% and clothing is 40%. The Chanel shoe discount at Bloomingdales and Barneys is 40%. The same formula applies to Louboutin: Barneys and Louboutin boutiques are offering 40% off but Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman are discounting the red soles 30%.

Chanel doesn’t sell shoes or clothing online and the markdowns haven’t been taken to the red soles in cyberspace. Louboutin handbags are discounted 30% at Saks Fifth Avenue online and Barneys.

If you have something particular in mind, we suggest contacting a reliable sales person to keep an eye out for your anticipated purchase. Last season, Chanel didn’t take a second markdown and many stores– including Bloomingdales– were stuck with racks and racks of winter clothing.
