    Fivestory Clearance & Sample Sale

What we love about shopping at the Madison Avenue boutique, Fivestory is how the inventory goes beyond the basics and satisfies the needs of those looking for drama and haute. Think Balmain, Cushnie Et Ochs, Mary Katrantzou, and of course, Rosie Assoulin.

The problem with such style is the expense and the fast pace of trends. For this reason, we are always looking for an major markdown. Starting Tuesday, August 8, Fivestory will move all it’s overstock to Soho where you will be able to save up to 90% off on many items. (You can click here to see what we found and bought at last season’s off-site.)

If you’re not apt to leave the seashore or travel downtown, we suggest you quickly popover to the Fivestory boutique (or website) right now. The discounts are 70% on many items and there is still a large size selection on even some of the most lust worthy items of the season.

We are in love with these Geanvito Rossi cap-toe heels that are now $240 from $800, an Off-White denim jacket with roses is $275 from $920 and a Rosie Assouline striped sweaters dress is $500 from $1700. Here is a Monse dress shirt that’s anything but a basic dress shirt and this Natasha Zinko dress looks like it was picked from a lavender garden in Provence. There is also a good assortment of Roland Mouret items.

There is no doubt that the deals at the off-site will be better than the current in-store discounts but the convenience of online shopping might be worth the premium. Items purchased through the online sale are also returnable, which can’t be said about the Soho sale.

    Fivestory Offsite
Tuesday, August 8th through Sunday, August 13th
Tues 9am-8pm, Wed to Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 11am-4pm

    Net-A-Porter Sale Ends Tuesday

The last minute is always the most productive minute the day and the second hand is gaining speed on sale season. If you’ve been putting off making a purchase on Net-a-Porter, we suggest you take this moment and do it NOW. The site’s seasonal sale ends Tuesday and once it’s done the entire catalogue of merchandise is removed from the site.

Right now, you can find a wide variety of merchandise discounted 70%, plus an additional 20%, which brings the total savings to a grand 80% off retail. So what’s especially discounted that warrants a last look?

There is a ton of swimsuits and coverups still available. We especially love this Mara Hoffman bikini that’s now under $80 from $240 or this Emma Pake bikini that’s only $100 from $435. Here is a Eberjay crocheted coverup that’s about $80 from $240. Remember, we still have all of August, early September, Mykonos and fall vacations to get our wear.

Stepping away from the pool and out of the sand, this Mark Cross colorful shoulder bag caught our eye. It’s currently reduced to $950 from $2400. (It’s hard to gauge if it’s even worth the $950– but it’s cute.) Anya’s rainbow cross-body is now $450 from $1100. (There’s no doubt that it’s worth it ????????❤️.) Aquazzura classic lace-up shoes are just $218 from $725 and there are still lot os sizes. These Francesco Russo peep-toe heels are A-mazing and are reduced to $275 from $920 and Charlotte Olympia ‘Love’ heels are about $280 from $900.

Among the clothing, there is A LOT of Miu Miu and Prada. Most of it is about 70% off once you add the additional discount. Here is a Dodo Bar Or romper that’s about $110 from $340, a Roksanda striped dress is $850 from over $2700 and this Roland Mouret top (which I own in navy and looks amazing on) and is now reduced to $280 from $875. (Do you think I need another??)

Remember, this sale only runs through Tuesday and then it’s off the site. The next time you see this merchandise it will be on The OutNet and prices will be higher.

    MatchesFashion Final Sale, Extra Discounts

It’s hard to believe that we are half-way through Summer. The sun is setting a just enough earlier to become noticeable and markdown season is about to begin to wrap up.

Over at MatchesFashion, the discount is already 70% off and the site is closing out the season with an additional 20% off many items. Discounts have hit up to 70% and the extra promotion  brings the total savings to 80%. Shoppers should use the code EXTRA20 when checking out to engage the additional savings. The promotion ends Saturday, July 29.

Some of the sale section standouts include these wedge sandals from Gianvitto Rossi that come to just $200 from $850 and Gucci lace-ups and a Valentino bag are both currently reduced by 60%. This pink Peter Pilotto off-the-shoulder top is a very good deal for $310 from $1150 and we’ve always loved this Dodo bar Or top with pom-poms, which now comes to just $110 from $225.

The sale only runs for two more days. It’s best to shop with anticipation of what you might need while there are big sales. There are few things worse than shopping under pressure and paying full price.

Neiman Marcus Discounts Hit 80% Off

The sale of all designer sales is here.

Neiman Marcus is now offering discounts up to 80% when you take an extra 20% off designer clothing, shoes and bags. This promotion is available in stores and online.

The shoe sale is the most interesting. Checking out the selection, there are a lot of shoes we’ve been eyeing that are now reduced to irresistible prices. These Tom Ford buckle shoes are reduced to about $400 from nearly $1780. Prada suede sandals are $190 from almost $800, flat slides are $118 from $500,  and  this one with ankle ribbons is reduced to $213 from $890. Jimmy Choo suede heels are about $400 from $1400.

The clothing selection is quite good too. Over here we found a Cushnie Et Ochs jumpsuit that’s reduced all the way down to $340 from $1700, a fitted Roland Mouret dress is $440 from $2200 and a Thierry Mugler one-shoulder dress is $460 from $2300.

This sale runs through Wednesday (and then there will be a ‘extra bonus day.’) We don’t expect prices to get any lower. We suggest you grab what you need now and wear it right away. After all, there is nothing better than wearing a great sale find while it’s still in-season.

    Bottega Veneta Sample Sale Disappoints

The Bottega Veneta doesn’t open to the public tomorrow but employees got first look this afternoon and didn’t leave very happy. Early shoppers say that the selection is lousy and prices are high, which doesn’t bode well for the public that doesn’t gain entrance until noon on Tuesday.

This evening, shoppers spotted duffles, bags and jackets but ‘none were a great deal.’ Most bags were priced between $800 and $1500 and any item of clothing that could be described as ‘fashionable was $500 or more.’ During past sales, bags were 60% off and shoes were priced at $100 a pair. This is clearly not the case. Saks Fifth Avenue currently has better discounts.

If you’re looking for the best deals on Bottega merchandise, we suggest you keep an eye on the Bottega outlet, at Woodbury Common. If you hit the outlet correctly, you can find past season clothing discounted 85% off and bags reduced as much as 65%. Calling the outlet just before a holiday weekend is the best plan.

For now, we suggest you steer clear of this sale. Alternatively, you can hold off until the lines and prices dwindle towards the end of the week.

Manolo’s Biggest Markdown of the Year

Monday is the start of the Manolo Blahnik super semi-annual sale. Usually the sale runs for just four days, but this year it’s scheduled to run for more than two weeks or through Thursday, August 3. The extra long sale schedule is a clue that the selection will be much larger than usual. It’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on classic and ornate shoes from the spring and summer collection at up to 75% off.

Styles are from the exclusive boutique collection and include some alligator. Prices are always marked by sticker dots, which usually range from $195 for a red dot up to $450 for a green dot. Most shoes and low boots– even highly ornate styles– are priced at $250. At the last sale, we only found one pair of shoes marked for $195.

The selection of current season “IT” shoes is much better at this boutique sale than at the sample sale or the department stores. Then there’s always the increased enjoyment of shopping in the beautiful and wonderfully civilized atmosphere. Last season we attended the final markdown and there was no line. You can click here to see all the details from last season’s final markdown.

The store can get crowded but at least there isn’t usually a long line to get in. For those who can’t make it to mid-town this July, We pulled a few online sales that offer similar pricing. If you’re planning on going to the boutique, we suggest trying to attend towards the beginning of the sale week. There is usually no restocking. Styles and sizes always run low quickly.

    Bottega Veneta Sample Sale

It’s hard to think of a lot of benefits to being in the city during a the hottest weeks of Summer. As an external optimist, we are always on the outlook for a silver lining. We suggest you grab an ice coffee and keep an eye on the annual Bottega Veneta sample sale, which kicks off Tuesday.

The sale starts early with a friends and family preview and then opens to the public at noon. At past sales, woven bags were snatched up quickly. Discounts were about 60% off. Shoes tend to also go very quickly, but that shouldn’t be a surprise when prices range from just $100 for flats to $250 for boots.

The clothing selection is always a big draw too. During past sales tops were priced at just $100, dresses were $200 and coats were $300. The problem is always that the early shoppers scoop up all the best items. Security only allows between 20 to 30 people into the sale at a time, which means the wait times can be very long.

When we first started covering the BV sale, it was employees only and the merchandise assortment was epic. Now, shoppers can expect to find long lines and a questionable selection. Heading to this sale is somewhat of a crapshoot. If you do venture out, we suggest you apply extra sunscreen and abort the mission if the lines are too long.
