    Louboutin at Bergdorf Goodman

The Louboutin markdown is slated to officially kick off on Friday but stores have been allowing customers to presale purchases. We already did an extensive investigation of the sale styles at Barneys, which will be 40% off but was wowed by the selection at Bergdorf Goodman.

The discount at Bergdofs is just 30% off but the store has many styles that aren’t carried at Barneys and have a lot more inventory and sizes than available at the designer’s boutique. You can click here to see all the styles that will be included in the Bergdorfs sale. Some highlights include, our favorite Moulamax low boots that will be $685 from nearly $1000. Once du Desert pumps are classic with a twist and come to $625 from $895. (Click here for pictures.)

Louboutin fans will probably be most excited about the sale assortment of sneakers. There are these rainbow spiked sneakers that come to $740 from $1045, fully spiked Roller Boat sneakers that are about $900 from $1300 and full bedazzled Roxxxy sneakers are $1400 from nearly $2000.

The sale is slated to go live in stores and online on Friday. We suggest keeping an eye on the site and swiveling back and forth between Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. (Click here to see pictures from in the store.)

Madison Ave Sale-ing: Balenciaga, McQueen, Pucci, Stella & Lanvin

It couldn’t have been a more perfect day to sale down Madison Avenue. The bright sun, changing leaves and ubiquitous sales make it ideal conditions to browse, shop and absorb all the beauty of luxury fashion.

Today, we collected markdown intelligence from some key Madison Avenue boutiques. The best part is that the weather is supposed to remain cooperative through the weekend. That means holiday shopping will be that more enjoyable.

Take note, most stores have officially started sale season. Discounts range from 30% to 50% off. Some boutiques are offering even better pricing than the department stores. Keep an eye out, the Chanel sale will begin in mid-December. Golden Goose and Mr. & Mrs. Italy claim they will not have any markdowns. (We’ll see about that.) See below for details and head to the jump for pictures of our favorite sale items.

Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for pictures and real-time updates.

    Alexander McQueen
Expect to snag a discount of 40% off at the McQueen boutique. Shoes and bags are discounted the same amount. We were most taken by the luscious shearling-lined leather coats and jackets. We also loved this collection for these of hardware. Grummets and d-rings add a great edge to what could otherwise be a flat collection.

    Balenciaga
Who is gaga for Balenciaga? Clearly everyone. The discounts range from 30% to 50% off. The problem is that the boutique sales people can’t really tell you which shoe styles are marked down or the prices. Sizes are also sketchy. Clearly this floral print Knife pump is discounted 50% but we were told that there weren’t any pumps included in the markdown. It’s better to stick to the bags, which are much more straight forward. Be on the look out for the small selection of Graffiti City Bags. They are from the new Spring collection and not on sale but they will be sold out in a flash. Production is really tight and it’s currently the hottest bag on the market.

    Emilio Pucci
You can soak in all the colorful drama of Pucci’s mid-century colorful print at 40% off. Bags, shoes and jewelry are also discounted 40%. We always love Pucci’s bright solid coats that are trimmed with big fox collars. Online at Saks, you can find some swim suits that are discounted 50% and perfect for winter vacation.
    Ivana 212-230-1135

    Stella McCartney
You’ll find clothing discounted 50% and shoes and bags marked down by 40%. The bag selection isn’t terrific in the store. You should head online to see a better assortment. The boutique has an especially great selection of coats and the markdown tops any department store. We love this long check grey coat that’s reduced to $900 from $1800 and platform star sneakers are always classic ($540 from $900).
    Dana 786-797-5850

    Lanvin
Clothing, shoes, jewelry and most bags are discounted 50% at Lanvin. It’s hard to find any rays of sunshine within this collection. If you are a sneaker fan there are lots from which to choose. Most styles are on sale for about $300 from $600. This tailored print coat is quite eye-catching.

    Christian Louboutin Presale

Many stores have started their sales on contemporary and luxury designer merchandise prior to Thanksgiving. Christian Louboutin remains one of those brand’s that trails behind the regular markdown schedule. It’s always a big mystery as to when Louboutin will begin their sale.

Wonder no more! Presale has started at Barneys, Bergdorf and Saks. The sale will open to the public on December 1. The first markdown discount at Barneys is 40% off the markdown at Saks and Bergdorf is 30%. We got our hands on the confidential lists from each store.

Highlights include, suede spike pumps that come to $657 from about $1100, sequin sneakers are $600 from $1000, glitter slippers are also $480 from $795 and floral print velvet Moulamax boots are $675 from $1100. (Links are in the jump.)

The sale will even include lots of basic styles like these Pagalle Follies in velvet and these basic black pumps with a leather pom-pom. There are also lots of sneakers and flats like these sparkle mid-tops and this lace sneaker.

You can click on the jump to get links to most of the items that will be available during in the markdown. We suggest you contact your Barneys Louboutin sales person right away to begin presaling the 40% off discount. Online shoppers would be wise to purchase now and call for a price adjustment after checking out.

The markdown at the Louboutin boutique is also 40% but customer service is a disaster. We like to stick  with the department stores unless a preferred style is already sold out.

A Guide to the Best Markdowns: Saks vs Barneys vs Bergdorfs

Almost all of the seasonal merchandise in department stores are on sale. At most of our local shopping destinations, fall and winter clothing is discounted 40% off but the prices of shoes and handbags vary greatly.

Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. Take note that no stores are discounting Chanel, Dior, Louboutin or Celine. If you’re looking for Balenciaga or Valentino Bergdorfs has the best selection but Barneys has the best prices.

What We Really Bought on Black Friday

Are Black Friday deals really that good? Eh, kind of.

We find that holiday hype and the pent up frustration from family overtime, drives much of our consumerism. After investigating the purchases of friends, family, along with our personal shopping, we began to see some trends.

One is that most of what we really bought on Black Friday were minor purchases. There was no extravagant jewelry, no cars, no mega-expensive handbags. Another theme is that people seemed to purchase the items they needed and were holding back to buy. The third, and final observation, is that Starbucks was consistently more crowded than most any store. People are spending more time browsing in shops and shopping online.

Milly high-wasted dress pants ($310 from $400 or buy Gilt credits for more than 50% off): Incredibly flattering and versatile. Plan on pairing them with Frame gold high-neck blouse($300). Just waiting for the top to go on sale.

Gucci Jordaan Loafers ($695): The last pair in my size that hasn’t been price hiked to $730.

Precious Moment girl’s jacket ($196 from $280): She needed a new jacket and this brand is priced much higher in US stores.

Girl’s J. Crew Coat ($82 from $138): She likes the stars.

Mr & Mrs. Italy fur lined boots ($336 from $480): I fell in love with them while writing this post. This can be a dangerous job.

Eye charm necklace ($55 from $102): Needed to stock up on some girl’s birthday gifts.

Celine-esque white pumps ($120 from $150): They aren’t practice enough to spend lots of money and I really loved the heel on this version.

Diptyque Scented Oval (5 for $190 from $240) : Always a welcomed holiday gift.

    MyTheresa’s Amazing Cyber Weekend

Nobody does European fashion quite like, well, Europeans. The selection is always a little different than what you will find around home and the styling is done with an extra twist of creativity.

We like to surf the European fashion sites whenever we are in need of a little bit of style inspiration. MyTheresa, in particular, offers that special ‘Je ne sais quoi’ that brings your style game to a whole other rung. Our favorite part of MyTheresa is the great sales, of course!

Right now, shoppers can save 30% off using the code BLACK30. The sale isn’t public yet but you can use this private link to start shopping now.

The best part of the sale is that lots of items area already priced less than they would be Stateside. Take a look at these velvet Ellery boots. The retail price is over twice as much from regional retailers. once you take the extra 30% off they come to $560. We’ve seen similar styles for nearly $1800!

There are other items that are hard to find discounted, like this Loewe Hammock bag that comes to $1000 less than normal and a JW Anderson Pierce bag that’s about $1000 from nearly $1500. Over this way is an adorable Alex Chung sweatshirt that’s $190 from $260 and Aquazzura suede loafers, which we also don’t recall having seen, are $455 from $650.

Mr & Mrs Italy’s fur lined coats and jackets haven’t even hit markdowns anywhere here yet but MyTheresa has a large assortment that is included in the Black Friday sale. We especially like the fur lined boots ($336 from $480) but aren’t sure about how suede will hold up through an NYC winter.  If Mr & Mrs are still priced to high for your budget, opt for Yves Salomon, which is about half the price and also included in the promotion.

Take note, the discount can be applied to items using this link. You can clearly see that the original pricing is better than US retailers and the additional percentage makes shopping overseas extra attractive. We also love that there are no shipping surprises and MyTheresa includes duties and taxes in all its pricing. What’s even better? MyTheresa delivers in less than 48-hours! Now, that is service.

Where to Shop on Black Friday

This week, the biggest friends and family event is Thanksgiving. There are great deals whether you’re looking for the excitement of crowds or prefer to shop solo from your computer. Take note, that some of the most attractive promotions are Friday only. Below are our top picks for Black Friday. Rest assured, the deals are almost identical if you are shopping online or if you’re thrill seeking in stores.

    Shopbop
You’ll find discounts upon discounts galore at Shopbop. Sale items are currently discounted up to 75% and most ‘full’ priced items are 30% off. To sweeten the deal, the site is offering an extra ‘buy more, save more’ deal where you can save up to an additional 30% off. Use the code MORE17 to activate the extra savings. We have our eyes on these white pumps that we think are even better looking than the Celine version. We just love the heel and they are only $150. A Phillip Lim red cross body is already reduced to $455 from $650 and a smashing red, Giambattista Valli cape dress comes to $700 from $3265.

    Neiman Marcus
For Black Friday only, Neiman Marcus will be offering an additional 33% off sale items. That will bring the total discount on designer fashion to 60% off, which is much more than anyplace else.
We can’t say with 100% certainty, which items will be eligible for the additional markdown but we have our eyes on this quilted Saint Laurent bag that is already reduced $1387 from $1850, a mini Dolce & Gabbana bag that’s discounted to $417 from $700, velvet Manolo Blahnik BB heels that are $465 from $700 and this red Givenchy dress that’s really the perfect shade of the holiday season.
(Bergdorf Goodman won’t be offering the same promotion but will offer an additional 20% of sale, starting December 5.)

    Saks Fifth Avenue
Prices for the shopping extravaganza will be reduced up to 60% off if you can get to the store or log in before noon on Friday. An Alice & Olivia print dress is $118 from $300 and Frame high waist jeans are just $66 from $250. Just a warning, the early Saks crowd can be overwhelming. This is one of these days where shopping online can avoid lots of aggravation.
