    The IT-it: Chanel Tweed Jackets

As far as I’m concerned Marie Kondo doesn’t know anything about joy. Could you imagine if Iris Apfel colonized all her belongings and abandoned anything that wasn’t necessary? Who would Anna Dello Russo be without her archives? The world would definitely be less fortunate if Peggy Guggenheim simply tossed her Man Ray dresses.

If you want to know the meaning of real joy, it’s opening your closet and wearing an item you’ve had for over a decade. I will never give up my embroidered Future Ozbeck bellbottom jeans that I’ve had for over two decades but only worn three times. My ridiculous buffalo leather Tom Ford skirt with jeweled rings down the seams doesn’t even fit but I don’t care. These items are a part of who I am.

This season, I am most excited to dust off my old Chanel 90s jackets. The combination of Karl Largerfeld’s passing and the resurrection of the 90s is the perfect recipe for the rebirth of the tweed jacket. The updated look is paired with rolled up boyfriend jeans. You can also go full-on Paris Hilton 90s and pair yours with a miniskirt.

Chanel vintage is much more alluring than anything new. If you don’t already have a Chanel jacket on on hand, I suggest you begin stalking Ebay and TheRealReal. Just don’t go too crazy and overspend. I would suggest keeping your purcahse between $300 and $800.

Once last piece of advice: be thoughtful about what you buy. I might not subscribe to the Marie Kondo mathod of abandoning your belongings but I do believe that you should really love everything you own. Luxury fashion is less about accumulation and more about life enhancment.

VIP Preview: Save Up to 25% on Shopbop

For a long time, department stores have been luring shoppers with gift card shopping incentives. We’d prefer a straight discount over a gift card any day. It’s always more attractive to save money now than be offered the promise of a gift card in the future– especially when it’s likely to expire.

Good thinking: Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases with the more you spend. The best part is that we just got early access. You can start shopping now and use the code GOBIG19 at checkout.

We wouldn’t mind using the discount on for this Ulla Johnson white ruffled dress that can cost as little as $260. A long trench or duster is a must-have for spring we are in love with this trench from Monse. We haven’t tried any jeans from Agolde but these jeans seem to be generating a cosmic pull. Beaded bags started to trend in the fall and they are coming back with a vengance for Spring. This Shrimps style is the trend leader.

    15% off orders of $200+
    20% off orders of $500+
    25% off orders of $800+

You can also use the discount on sale items. This No. 21 sequin dress is 70% off even before the promotion, a Pascal black gingham trench is currently discounted 60% and these Golden Goose sneakers are already 30% off.  Not bad for a pre-promo discount.

The sale opens to the public on Tuesday and the promotion runs through Saturday, March 2. The next big Shopbop deal doesn’t usually take place until early April.

    Moda Operandi VIP 30% Off

Moda Operandi ended it’s sale season a few weeks earlier than usual. We were a little sad to see some pieces go but we never have a problem finding something new. For this reason, we were very excited to be given a VIP link for 30% off some new collection items.

The best part of this sale is that there are lots of bags from Boyy,  Danse Lente, Marni, and Cult Gaia are included in the private sale. You can use this link to access the selection and then use the code PRIVATE30 to engage the discount at checkout.

Some of the best deals are the Boyy bags. This black version with a lizard buckle strap comes to $1250 from $1665. This brown-pink Danse Lenti combo bag is perfect for spring and is just $370 from $520 and this Cult Gaia classic in red is about $200 from $280.

Take note, many of these items are selling out as we are writing this post. We suggest you hop over asap and not spend too much time stalking.

Nordstrom Late Winter Sale (Including Moncler)

Nordstrom just kicked off a late winter sale where discounts run to 50% off. The big standout is the great selection of Moncler jackets. Unfortunately, the markdown on most Moncler items is just 25% off but even small discounts can add up to hefty savings on big-ticket purchases.

Some of the highlights include this metallic quilted puffer that’s now $1200 from $1600. All sizes are still available. This Moncler Genious in red with velvet patches is $935 from $1250 and a black velvet style is $1725 from $2300.

Other outerwear standouts include this Ienki Ienki hooded down jacket for $734 from $2225 and this red style is reduced 50% off.  There is also a large selection of merchandise from the collaboration between Nordstrom and Something Navy’s Ariel Charnas. This cropped jacket is just $112 from $190, white heels are $71 from $120 and mommy and daughter matching pajamas are $20 a set.

This Nordstrom sale runs through February 24. We are just waiting for the Louboutin discounts to hit the site but that might just be wishful thinking.

Bergdorf Goodman Extra 30% Off Sale (Moncler Too)

We initially thought there would be a few good President Day sales, but there is nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. It appears as if the early sale season has translated to a holiday weekend with no good retail sale merchandise.

Fine, there’s nothing to buy right now but just wait for Tuesday. Bergdorf Goodman will begin an online sale where all sale merchandise is an additional 30% off. The best part is that Bergdorf just added Moncler to its online sale section and we believe that the French brand will be included in the extra discount. The extra discount would bring most of the Moncler selection to 50% off retail.

We would definitely add this turquoise puffer to our cart as it will be just about $600 after the additional discount. This kid’s hat will be $110 from $240 and this girl’s hooded jacket will be about $330.

Some other sale items we’ve been watching include, this Prada bag that will be $900 from $2500,  Manolo booties that will be $300 from $875,  Manolo fur trimmed mules for $340 from $975. We also added this Prada puffer to our cart for $1200 and these See by Chloe cropped pants for $120 from $375.

We wouldn’t suggest sale-ing through the store. All the discount merchandise has already been shipped out. We are just waiting for it to officially upload to Neiman Marcus Last Call.  This promotion will run through Saturday.

Inside Global Fashions Pre-Spring Sale (+Pics)

We are all just getting over the heartbreak and disappointment of Valentine’s Day but there is a reason why retail therapy is a highly recommended component of psychotherapy. (It is? Right?) Sweetheart gifts are always nice but these sales are a great opportunity to fill your wardrobe with some serious fashion at killer prices. We are crazy for this a camel color Valentino military-inspired jacket that’s 80% off or $900 from $4490 and silk tunic is about $300 from $1490. Red Valentino is discounted 75% and a sunny yellow lace dress comes to about $250 from $950 and a ruffled trench is the same price. You can click over and see pictures.

Remember, to mark your calendar because the sale starts on Monday and will only run for three days. We are told that there won’t be restocking and you can expect those Stuart Weitzman shoes and cute pink bags to go very quickly.

Shop375 Launches: Discounted Chanel, Dior, Fendi & More

The occupation of Fashion Spy has its perks. One of the highlights is getting discounts on even the newest and most wanted items of the season. For years, Shop375 has been my personal secret source on getting current season Chanel, Fendi, and Balenciaga.

You wouldn’t believe the number of things I’ve amassed from the Shop375.  After years and years of requests, Shop375 is giving us the best Valentines day gift we can imagine and launching its online store to the public. Right now, you can save 20% on just-in-stores Chanel shoes. We already put dibs on these Chanel leather espidrilles that are $635 from a retail price of $795.

The discounts on Dior are even better. Classic Dior slingbacks are never found on sale but are discounted 20% here and you can also apply a 10% off code when you register with the site. This Dior leather mini shoulder bag is $1895 from $4525 and a gorgous matte studded Lady Dior bag is $3395 from $4900. The site also has a Fendi/Fila Kan I for $1995 from $2690 and 85mm classic Christian Louboutin pumps are $500 from $700.

Inside the Paul Andrew Sample Sale

The Paul Andrew sample sale doesn’t officially kick off until tomorrow but we were able to snag a sneak peek at this traditional showroom sample sale. It’s not so often that we find ourselves shopping in a showroom anymore.

Usually, sales are hosted at an off-site location by a third party. The highlight is that a classic sample sale offers tremendous value but the downside is that sample sizes are limiting. This Paul Andrew sale exemplifies that highs and lows.

Prices start at just $25 and top out at $250. Most of the selection falls into the category of $150 for samples and $250 for open stock and boots. The disappoint only sets in if you aren’t a sample size 37. Those who fit into a lucky size 37 will be overwhelmed with a large variety of gorgeous shoes mostly from Spring seasons. Shoes used for photo shoots or runways usually come in a 39 and 40s with scored and scuffed bottoms fell into the $25 segment.

We have pictures from inside the sample sale right here. We were thrilled to spot Rhea Ankara slingbacks (the ones with the sphere heel), Banner ankle boots (short boots with a folded top), and lots more. You can click here to see a great assortment of discounted Paul Andrew shoes online and there are lots of size options too,.

The only replenishment will be from borrows and fashion week returns. We suggest you attend this sale early regardless of shoe size.
