Bergdorfs Presales Biggest Markdown Ever (Pics)

Bergdorf Goodman is usually the most conservative of our local stores when it comes to markdowns. This season, however, the “Lavender Lady” is killing it with a discount of 40% off bags, shoes, and clothing. The presale started today and becomes official in stores and online on May 23.

The main floor of handbags is buzzing with activity as customers revel over the great deals. Valentino bags are 40% off, Balenciaga is 30% off, Loewe is 40% off, Saint Laurant is 30% off and Fendi is 30% off. You can click here to see pictures of what styles are included in the markdown. Our favorite finds were this Loewe Hammock bag with canvas and leather comes to $1410 from $2350 and a crossbody Saint Laurent wallet on a chain comes to $1253 from $1790.

Upstairs in the shoe department, you will find a fantastic assortment of shoes for presale at 40% off. Usually, the first markdown is just 30% to 33% off. The selection includes Manolos, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Balenciaga, Valentino and so much more. There is no Gucci, Chanel, Dior or Celine included in the sale… yet. Some of our favorite styles are this Manolo strappy sandal that comes to $500 from $845. There are also a lot of Hangisi variations on the sale racks. Fendi-Fila heels are about $600 from $990 and Valentino Rockstud cage sandals are $500 from $825. We have lots of pictures over here

The presale just started today so the store was still pretty tame. We are sure that the scene will become more intense as word gets out. Who can argue with 40% off at Bergdorfs?!

BIG NEWS: Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale

We love Spring in New York– markdowns, sample sales, and yes, the Manolo Blahnik. We are very excited to share that the Manolo Blahnik sample sale will be Wednesday, May 22 and it’s open to the public.

The morning segment of the sale will only be open to Manolo’s invited guests. Everyone else will begin to start shopping at about 11am. As is tradition, the second-floor salon of the Warwick Hotel will be the site of the event.

This sample sale is a bi-annual highlight for shoe lovers. As you can imagine, the wait time can be worse than the line at DMV. We usually prefer the boutique sales, even if prices are a bit more expensive. Those who can’t make it to the sale can shop an assortment of brand new discount Manolos from the scroll above. Saks and Barneys also are presaling Manolo Blahnik at 40% off and there are lots of great Hangisi styles available.

Those who are up for the Manolo sample sale challenge, should expect to take a number and wait, and wait, and wait. Numbers will not be distributed until 7:30 am. We wouldn’t suggest arriving before then because there will be no priority given– even if you arrive at 4:30 am.

The really nice thing about this sale is that you can leave and come back once you get your lucky numbered ticket. Take note, that the sale opens to the public at 11am and will close when inventory begins to run low. In past years, that was at about 3pm to 4pm.

We expect that prices will run along the same lines as last season. Plain shoes, including leather, suede satin, and printed fabric start at $125 and go up to $150. Shoes with embellishments like glitter and studs were priced $175. Boots started at $200 for basic versions and went up to $400 for over-the-knee styles. (You can click here to see our post from last season’s Manolo Blahnik sample sale or head this way to see our complete guide on shopping the Manolo sample sale.)

Over the past few seasons, the assortment has been dwindling as a result of VIP resellers, hoarders and other company modes of liquidation. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this sale is better than the past several seasons. Momma needs new Manolos!!!

If you attend the sale, please keep us all posted in the comment section below.

Saks Presale is Insane 40% Off (100+ Pics)

Yesterday we got word that Saks Fifth Avenue started its presale. Pictures started pouring in and we couldn’t believe our eyes. The markdown is 40% off on most items and the selection is really almost too good to believe. The sale officially goes live online on Monday.

The main floor of handbags is a little hard to navigate. Many of the spaces are leased and not cooperating traditionally. For now, we suggest you focus your attention on participating handbag brands, which include Valentino, Balenciaga, Chloe, and Prada. You can click here to see pictures of what’s included in the markdown. All Valentino bags are 40% off, Chloe is 40% off, Balenciaga is priced 30% to 50% off and Prada is 40% off.

Heading to shoes, you will find all the presale racks behind the elevators. We were most impressed by the Gucci selection, which consists of lots of classic style Princetowns, sneakers, and a variety of sandals and slides. We have pictures in the jump and also tagged the styles above so that you can add them to your cart when the sale goes live online.

Bloomingdales also has a markdown on Gucci shoes. The discount is 50% off but the selection isn’t as good as Saks. We added those pictures to the jump too.

The Saks shoe selection also consists of a great assortment of Manolo Hangisi heels and flats. The sale racks are also filled with an assortment of Fendi, Givenchy and Jimmy Choo. We have tons of pictures in the jump.

If there is an item you like, we suggest you jump on the opportunity. We’ve listed lots of contact information. The sale goes live online on Monday (and more designers on Tuesday). It wouldn’t be a bad idea to fill your cart now and use the weekend to edit.

Christian Louboutin Sample Sale Is NOW

Markdown season has turned our attention away from most sample sales but the Christian Louboutin sample sale is too buzzy and legendary to ignore. Before you get too excited, you must remember that this sale is by invitation only.

The Christian Louboutin sale officially kicked off to the most important fashion insiders– Instagram stars and magazine editors. The sale extends through the rest of the week as the invited guest list expands to allow the general press and “friends and family.”

During past seasons prices start at $200 but most styles are in the $300-range. The most expensive style shoes are $1000. A majority of the heels and studded variety pumps are priced between $300 and $400. For example, Pigalle black studded heels were $400 from about $1100. Last season, there were options for men’s sneakers and shoes too.

Usually, there is a shopping limit. Last season customers were allowed to buy up to 12 pairs of shoes. Men were reported to buy more than most women. We would suspect that most of these shoes are resold on Poshmark or the like.

The appointment system makes it so that the wait isn’t that long.  To RSVP you will need to have a validated email address, which will be used as an access code. The good news is that each invitee can have TWO guests but they must be registered under the host’s account. If you do attend, be sure to pack a credit card with a high spending limit.

Louboutin fans who don’t have an invite can wait for the department store markdowns, which should be in about two weeks. Fear not, we found some other– less obvious– options to shop for red bottoms online right now. Use the above scroll to see what we found.

Before heading out, you can browse the Christian Louboutin in-store sale section in this post. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to get up-to-the-minute updates and (fingers crossed) pictures from inside the sale.

Inside Barneys Presale Begins With 40% Off (Pics)

Barneys shoppers can officially begin to presale for the first markdown. The discount is generally 40% across the board– clothing, shoes, and bags for men, women, and children. The presale started today and purchases can be picked up or shipped on May 20.

Presales used to be treated as a big secret but, these days, stores promote their presales and use it to create a buzz among shoppers. All purchases are held by credit card until the sale officially begins on May 20.

This season, Barneys is offering select items that you can “buy now” on sale. For instance, there is an assortment of Christian Louboutin and Manolo shoes, along with, Thom Brown and Proenza bags that you can buy now for 40% off. We have lots of pictures in the jump and have indicated any items that are “buy now” sale items.

Barneys also started a loyalist program where you can save 15% off all non-sale items at store (except Goyard). The offer is also valid online and runs through Sunday. You can click here to sign up and receive your discount code.

This season, there are lots of Gucci shoes included in the presale. Some standouts include the NY, LA, SF slides that are under $590 from $950 and embellished moiré heels are about $600 from $980. We have pictures in the jump. Another big attraction is the “Old Celine” assortment that’s all reduced 40% and Manolo Hangisis with daisies and Love scribbles in both flats and heels. The presale selection also includes lot of Givenchy, Aquazzura, Saint Laurent and Prada. Click for pics.

Among the bags, there aren’t many sale surprises. All bag styles are discounted 40% except Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Chloe and Mark Cross are 30% off. One of our favorite styles is YSL Large Monogram Loulou that’s $1800 from $2600 and the Givenchy GV3. We also like the collection of bags from Fontana Milano but they are Click over this way to see pictures.

We suggest you grab what you can during presale or have your trigger finger ready for online shopping when the sale goes live on May 20. There will be another wave of markdown merchandise in mid-June but that’s when Barneys loses its competitive edge.

Inside the Bonpoint Sample Sale (Inside Pics)

The Bonpoint sample sale has become a status symbol among New York City moms. Social rank is closely correlated with how early you’re given VIP access. Usually, the earliest VIP slots are given to celebrities, press and uber-VIP shoppers. Those are the moms who spend more than $100,000 a year buying $100 onesies. During past years, Kelly Ripa and Nicki Hilton were among the most recognizable NYC moms given early access.

This afternoon, we were among the first shoppers to enter the sale. (Do you think that can be used to get into Le Chalet on a Wednesday night?) The early morning hours on Tuesday will continue as some variation of VIP until the sale opens to the general public at 1pm. There are normally long-ish lines once the sale opens to the public but nothing like the Jimmy Choo sale.

Bonpoint sample sale alumni will identify this year’s sale as standard fare. Most of the merchandise is from the 2018 Summer’s collection. Most items are reduced 60% off the retail sticker. Other items like shoes, pullover sweaters, and pants are reduced by 70%.

More formal style dresses are normally priced in the $300-range and come to $120-ish. More casual dresses are about $80 from an original price of $200 at the boutique. Boy’s trousers are about $60 from $150 and the collared shirts come to $48 from $120. You can click here to see pictures we snapped from inside the Bonpoint sample sale.

Sorting through the clothing, there is almost something for everyone– spanning from the tiniest newborns to tweens. The slimmest inventory is usually size 2, but this evening’s twos selection was plentiful. We can’t promise it will stay like that for very long.

The sale also includes accessories, swim, sunhats, blanks, summer sweaters, and pajamas. Most shoppers were loading bags of merchandise. We suggest that Bonpoint shoppers use their connections to gain VIP access. Really, who has time for Soho House anyway?

    Post-Mother’s Day: Celebrate Yourself

As Mother’s Day comes to a close, it’s nice to look back and appreciate all the sweet notes, kisses and love that goes into making an ordinary Sunday so special. It’s also the right time to take a deep breath and, finally, relax.

In many ways, Mother’s Day is much more work than an ordinary Sunday. There’s the extra early wake-up call from excited children, navigating a messy breakfast in bed, fawning over questionable gifts and entertaining your own mothers and grandmothers. Mother’s Day is as much about making the rest of the family happy as it is honoring motherhood.

Now is the perfect time to celebrate your own motherhood and all the work and love you selflessly provide. It’s also not a bad time to start browsing TheOutnet’s clearance sale. You can save an extra 30% off already highly reduced merchandise.

We found lots of dresses that are perfect for the transition from Summer in the city to weekends at the beach. We love this shirtdress from Tome that comes to about $250 from $900, this Milly dress comes to $170, a classic Rocksanda bell sleeve dress is $460 from $1730, and this Zimmerman floral print dress is $280 from $400.

The sale only runs through Monday, which is just enough time to do some recovery shopping. We aren’t suggesting you go nuts but you certainly need a pat on the back.
