    Weekend Shopping: Impulses & Obsessions

In our fifth episode of quarantine weekend shopping, I learned about the highly competitive sport of scoring a Fresh Direct timeslot. For others, Citarella has become the beacon of refuge from an apartment full of stir-crazy family.

Those looking to escape the madness in a real live shopping spree can point their clicker at Ssense, who again took a rollback on some Gucci prices. Here is a double-G Gucci belt that’s priced at $325 from $460, a Gucci camera bag is $890 from $1200 and sandals are $345 from $490.

Not all Gucci items have been adjusted but enough to make it an interesting browse. We price checked most items and compiled an assortment in the pictures above that is worth your attention. Last time Ssense modified prices they were reverted back to normal and later switched to these items. We suggest you don’t hesitate if there’s been an item you’ve been eyeing.

Intermix extended its flash sale and added some excellent merchandise, including lots of Manolo Blahnik shoes,  reduced 40% off. These Blahnik Manolo Blahnik Martamod crystal slides are $570 from $945. Blaze Milano blazers have become a new obsession. This cream-colored style is $1170 from $1940. Some more affordable Summer options include this maxi dress from My Beachy Side that’s $240 from $398 and a Melissa Odabash kaftan that’s $261 from $435. Click here to read the full blog post.

Those looking to spruce up their beauty regiment should check out the Marc Jacobs beauty that’s currently 50% off at Neiman Marcus. My favorite item from the collection is the Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel eye crayon that’s now just $12.50 from $25. I always have two or three in back stock because it sells out from time to time. This liquid foundation brush is $24 from $48 and this popular Coconut Complexion set is $50 from $100 and comes with a variety of useful items.

Bergdorf Goodman is still offering an extra 25% off sale merchandise. The Row leather leggings are $390 from $2100. This is a prime collection piece that’s priced less than the sample sale if you were to ever find them there. There are also some Row men’s items, which have never been seen at a sample sale. You can also find a selection of Dior sunglasses reduced 60% off.

Saks extended its friends and family sale and increased the discount to 30%.  Beauty is 15% off. Palm Angels track pants are $325 from $465, Chloe espadrille wedges are $390 from $650 and a Free City sweatshirt is $220 from $315.

We just got an alert that Gilt reduced the prices on various Dior items. Who can’t use some friend love? Friendship bracelets are now $299 from $420, J’Adior slingbacks are $700 from $900, and pumps are $600 from $950.

Coming up this week we suggest you keep an eye on Shopbop. The site has been adding lots of sale items and the discounts will start to get interesting especially on the most in-demand loungewear categories.

Here’s to another weekend at home. I wish you a week full of lots of exciting fresh deliveries.  Cheers. Same time, same place next week?

    Farfetch Sales Begin

I anticipate that there will be a lot more designer sales as we near the timing of the natural markdown season. Most recently, Farfetch’s conglomerate of boutiques began reducing some designer merchandise in an effort to spur business to the independent retailer.

Scrolling through, there are lots of designer options at 25% off and more. This Givenchy Eden bag is reduced half-off and comes to $1450 from $2900vand this Balenciaga canvas tote bag is $795 from $1325.

According to online shopping reports sales of Birkenstocks are up 98%. A time frame wasn’t provided, which means data is pretty meaningless but nonetheless people are buying Birkenstocks. There are lots on sale on Farfetch. Arizona white Birks are reduced to $56 in some sizes and  Black Arizona Birks are $72. Bottega Veneta square toe pumps are $299 from $750 and these Gianvitto Rossi boots are 80% off bringing the price to $240 from $1200. (There are lots of sizes left too.)

Digging through the clothing options there is this Balmain tee that’s $175 from $350 and a Cecilie Bahnsen puff sleeve dress is $824 from nearly $1100. There are lots of Self-Portrait options reduced 40% off. These high-rise shorts are $186 from $310 and this lace maxi-dress is $285 from $475.

We would keep an eye on Farfetch over the course of the next week. It seems primed for some extra discounts. Don’t you agree?

    Coltorti Boutique 30% Off Sitewide

It doesn’t look like US retailers are ready to start discounting designer merchandise yet but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some great deals.

Coltorti is a multi-brand store with several boutiques along the Eastern coast of Italy. They are running a 30% off promotion that prices there merchandise way less than anywhere else once you count in the currency differential. The code DEALMOON30 can be applied to both sale items and the new season merchandise. There are some exclusions like Fendi, Prada, YSL Bottega, and Golden Goose but most all others are included.

Some standout items include this Balmain sweatshirt that comes to $350 from $500 and a classic Balmain blazer is $1070 from $2300 US retail. A Burberry quilted vest is $600 from $860 and an Off White Binder Clip bag is $660 from $1135 US retail.

You shouldn’t miss the sale section. This Zimmerman one piece is $110 from $288, a Stella McCartney tie-dye hoodie is about $200 from $537 and a Dolce & Gabbana floral print top is $230 from $582.

Take note, the most reduced items in the sale section are several years old. For the price differential, the new season savings seems like a much better value.

Neiman Marcus Extra 30% Off Sale

The Pandemic retail markdown strategy seems to be focused on discounting and moving old merchandise quickly and quietly.  We’ve seen extra retail markdowns from lots of stores but this Neiman Marcus sale is the most aggressive of the year.

At Neiman Marcus, you can now save an additional 30% off sale merchandise, which brings the discount over 80% off on many items. If you ever considered an Olympia La-Tan bag than this would be the time to buy one at $480 from $1400. A sleeveless Delpozo organza gown is $819 from $3900 and an Isabel Marant tee is $97 from $190.

For men, there are some really nice casual wear items from Ovida at about 70% off.  There is also a huge assortment of Dior sunglasses that are mostly all priced between $100 and $200.

Sizes are spotty among all categories. In most cases, there is only one size of a single item. We suggest you sort by size and keep checking because new merchandise tends to pop up as an added surprise.

This Neiman Marcus promotion will run through Tuesday. Next week we should start seeing real first markdowns on contemporary designers, which will mark the real beginning of the sale season.

    Weekend Shopping: Impulses & Obsessions

For the past several weeks I’ve had a lot of fun staging fantastical photoshoots from my closet of old gowns. Between home school, cooking, cleaning, and work, I am completely worn out and couldn’t muster the energy to strike a pose. Instead, I’m throwing it back to my first photoshoot I did in honor of April Fools. (Ironically, the dress is also Matthew Williamson.)

The highlight of my week was receiving gifts I sent to myself. I always love to add gift wrapping and a note to my online purchases. (Am I the only one?) Looking back on the last seven days, we saw an array of site-wide sales. Despite the apparent industry panic, retailers have been very controlled in maintaining the prices of luxury designer merchandise.

I anticipate that a lot more designer sales as we near the timing of natural markdown season. Most recently, Farfetch’s conglomerate of boutiques has started reducing some designer merchandise.  This red Balmain blazer, which seems to transcend season, is $1434 from $2300 US retail. This Balmain tank is $195 from $395 US Retail. This Givenchy ID39 bag is a fresh style that’s piquing my interest at $1600 from $2150 and this Givenchy Eden is $1425 from $2850.

This week we also uncovered some great Gucci finds. Over at Kirna Zibete we spotted a small assortment of Gucci classics discounted 50% off. A small belt bag is $475 from $790,  Gucci loafers with a crystal G are $490 from $980, and open-toe heels are $295 from $590. SSense has a Supreme Ophidia clutch for $345 from $490 and Brixton loafers for $545 from $790. You can click here to see all the Ssense Gucci finds.

Bergdorf Goodman is hosting a promotion where discounted merchandise is an extra 25% off. Click here to see my favorite sale items. The Saks friends and family sale was extended a week and I took an immediate liking to this multi-color pastel LoveShackFancy dress is about $300 from $400 and this Staud puff sleeve dress that’s $180 from $245. The full story on the Saks F&F is here.

MatchesFashion is offering a much stronger designer promotion. The code SHOPMF20 will save you 20% off most designers at checkout. Click here to see all info about what’s included and excluded. This Self Portrait white mini-dress is $320 from $400 and Saint Laurant slides are $520 from $645.

So here’s another to another week at home. I wish you a week full of lots of exciting fresh deliveries. Make Be sure to let me know if there is anything I missed.

    MatchesFashion and Saks Discounts

MatchesFashion started a promotion where a large majority of the site’s inventory is 20% off when combined with the code SHOPMF20. There is no master list of exclusions but we found that the code excludes Gucci, Golden Goose, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin, Acme, and some Bottega Veneta items.

Some pretty things that might be worth your attention include, this Saint Laurent Lou crossbody that’s $870 from $1070, a Zimmerman floral print dress is $560 from $700. Givenchy loafers are $720 from $900 and a Bottega Cassette bag is $1520 from $1900. Fendi sandals, which sold out many times last Summer, are $600 from $750. For some real eye candy check out this Fendi blazer that was updated for the Spring season in floral jacquard.

Those looking to save on more “essential” items should take a browse through the Saks friends and family sale. The discount is 25% off but almost all higher-end designers are excluded from the promotion. People swear by Commando faux-leather leggings and they are $73 from $98 and a cap sleeve bodysuit is $66 from $88. Stuart Weitzman suede sandals are $300 from $400 and a multi-color pastel LoveShackFancy dress is about $300 from $400.

The MatchesFashion and Saks friends and family sale run through Monday.
