Nordstrom: A Gift to Give Yourself

    Sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle

Valentine’s Day is poised to hit a soprano pitch at any moment. Before it does, however, I suggest taking this post-New Year’s moment and treating yourself. There are so many reasons to take a second to appreciate yourself and there is no time like the present.

Nordstrom is the perfect destination to find a little something to ingratiate yourself, to yourself. For example, I just picked up this PJ Salvage pajama top ($62) and pants ($62) with hearts all over. Nordstrom also has an excellent selection from Kim Kardashian’s famed line, Skims. I couldn’t help but feed my curiosity with a pair of Shims sleep ribbed boxers ($36) and a Skims Logo-Tee ($52).

When it comes to pampering, a new scent is sometimes exactly what you need to awaken your inner beauty. Perhaps it’s the most ultimate beauty indulgence in the form of a Hermes lipstick ($67) or a fresh bottle of Jour d’Hermes ($128). It’s the fragrance perfect balance of fresh and delicate without being too sweet.

Nordstrom always offers great customer service with free shipping, free returns, and curbside pickup. I highly suggest you sign up for the Nordy club, which allows you to earn points for every purchase. Nordy Club points are another great way to treat yourself.

My favorite little trick with online shopping is to fill out a gift card for myself. Just a few small words of encouragement from yourself, to yourself, can make a big difference.

    Introducing: Haute Pursuit

When I first stated Madison Avenue Spy, about 12-years ago, I spent most of my time writing the post and just a bit of time sorting through sales sections. Today, there are so many sites and so much merchandise online that I literally spend hours sorting and scrolling through products and a much smaller portion of time actually writing.

Shopping has become a full-time job.

With a little twist of technology, we are making the effort of finding the right item, for the best price, a lot easier. Haute Pursuit is a desktop browser extension that actually scans thousands of websites to find alternative sale options while you’re already shopping. You can click here to download the extension to your browser now. (Unfortunately, this feature cannot be used on mobile devices.)

You can also click the  Haute Pursuit icon in your toolbar and enter a search term.  Haute Pursuit will scan your key term against 1000s of retailer’s websites to find you all the matches that are on sale.

    How it works:

Say you’re shopping at Nordstrom and looking for a Bottega Veneta Pouch ($2790).  Haute Pursuit automatically drops down a box that offers a large variety of discounted Pouches. Haute Pursuit served up this Pouch from a much smaller retailer for just $1550. It’s doubtful that I would have found this exact item for this price without hours worth of work.

Haute Pursuit is still in Beta testing and doesn’t automatically drop-down suggestions at every retailer. Remember, you can tap the Haute Pursuit icon in the toolbar and enter a search term to find nearly any item for which you’re in “Haute Pursuit.”

Downloading the  Haute Pursuit extensions is very easy and will immediately engage. Just one note for Chrome users: After downloading, hit the puzzle piece next to your search bar and hit the thumbtack icon. Feel free to contact us at Hautepursuit.co if you have any questions, feedback, or comments.

    Farfetch Extra 20% Off

The sale selections at our local haunts are getting pretty dismal but overseas stores are much better stocked and the discounts are starting to get competitive. Farfetch started a promotion today where sale merchandise is discounted an extra 20%. No code is needed. The discount is automatically applied when items are placed in your cart.

The situation is such that many designer items are not included in the extra 20% off promotion. Another blip is that prices change frequently because each item originates at a different boutique. We suggest you move fast if you see an item for a great value. We’ve been burned way too many times to even take the risk of a refresh.

Some of the items we spotted are this large Off-White tote that comes to about $500 from $1280, this Balenciaga city bag is $1000 from $2090, and these Valentino Birkenstock-type sandals are $276 from $460. Remember, not all sale items are an additional 20% off.  You can tell for sure after clicking on the product and reviewing the product detail page.

Frankly, the Farfetch experience isn’t supporting a lot of confidence. It’s absolutely worth checking but maybe for items that you have previously been stalking but this site is becoming increasingly more difficult to shop.

Giglio Major Discounts on Winter Collection

Giglio has stores in Milano and Palermo and is deliciously Italian. The boutique carries local contemporary brands in addition to all the luxury brands you would expect to find in an upscale multi-brand store.

Today the boutique just started a sale where discounts are 50% off. The best part is that a lot of the sale section consists of items that haven’t yet hit markdown here or aren’t even sold in the US. The Manolo Blahnik options are amazing. These classic Hangisi heels with a black and white print are $555 from $1110, suede Maysale slingbacks are $406 from $812, and black pumps with a chain are $552 from $1104.
Other great sale finds include this Bottega twist bag with long fringe that’s 50% off, a Barbour coat is $233 from $466 and a Balmain jacket is $1100 from $2200. We even spotted these kid’s Golden Goose sneakers that are only $150 and come in a size 35.
We pulled lots of our favorite sale items in the scroll above. There is a great assortment and a lot to choose from. Why do they keep saying, “We can’t have it all?”

Intermix: VIP Link to 40% Off

Intermix started a flash sale that will save you 40% off a selection of fill priced and sale merchandise. The promotion isn’t slated to start until Tuesday but you can use this “VIP link” to access the savings now.

The sale applies to a selection of full-priced and already discounted merchandise. Some of the highlights include these Jimmy Choo pearl Bing strap shoes that come to about $600 from nearly $1000 and this reversible shearling coat from Yves Salomon is $1020 from $1700.
Some items that are further reduced are this Max Mara wrap coat that’s $557 from $1550, this LoveShackFancy dress is $161 from $600 and this houndstooth coat from Smyth is only $300 from $1000. This wool and cashmere Ronny Kobo striped sweater is great because it looks perfect alone but will also look great under a blazer or jacket and is just $125 from $338.
Don’t miss the denim options. There are always great deals for a new pair of jeans. These high-waisted J Brand grey jeans come to $95 from $250 and these Frame straight leg jeans are $130 from $275.
Remember, you must click on this initializing VIP link before you can access the extra discounts. The sale goes public on Tuesday and the discounts disappear on Thursday. Doubtful anything very good will last past today.

New Season: Exclusive Discounts from D’aniello

The new Spring season has just started to hit stores but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to sniff out great deals. Italian boutique, D’aniello is exclusively offering MadSpy readers 15% off new season merchandise. The best part is that many items are already priced 20% under US retail, which makes the added savings significant.

You can use this link to access the new season selection. Use the code MADISON15 to save 15% off. Men can browse this selection

This Balenciaga Hourglass tote is a brand new style and comes to $1213 from $1640 US, a new style Prada Cleo is $1630 from $1990 US, and this Marni lips skirt is perfect for Valentine’s day at $326 from $450 US.  There are also some sale items worthy of attention. This Fendi logo bucket bag is $1500 from $2300 US, a Givenchy bag is $1074 from $2150, and this Balenciaga nylon bucket bag is $546 from $850 US.

The code is valid through January 25. We suggest you take advantage now because you can be sure that those Chloe bags and other hot Prada items won’t be around for Spring markdowns.

    Weekend Shopping: Obsessions & Impulses

In a continuing series of 2021 contradictions, Chanel raised its bag prices again this week. The last price hike was in May and took customers by surprise as health concerns and financial struggles seemed to be at an all-time high.

Most customers voiced their opposition and expressed that the price increase came at a bad time and “was in very bad taste.” Another observer rightfully stated that “all these slight increases will eventually add up.” The numbers seem boggling, as of today, a Medium Classic bag is priced at $7400. A Maxi size is $8000.
I don’t believe that the most recent $300 price increase will deter many Chanel shoppers from desiring a bag. To put prices in perspective,  a 25cm Birkin is $9850 (in swift leather), a yellow gold Cartier Love bracelet is $6400, a Van Cleef Vintage Alhambra necklace with 10 motifs is $8800, and a Rolex Datejust 36mm stainless steel watch with a Jubilee bracelet retails for about $7000.

If you look closely, Boy Bags have not gone up in price as significantly. In four years the Large/New Medium has only gone up in price $400. If you’re looking for a good deal on a pre-owned bag, I suggest you set your sights on a 225 or 226. The retail values are currently very deflated. If you click on the image below, the chart will expand and you can review Chanel pricing dating back to 2008.

Getting back to more reasonable shopping. Bergdorf Goodman is running a promotion where you can save an additional 30% of sale merchandise. Here are Manolo Blahnik slingbacks for $296 from $885, a Bottega Veneta quilted skirt with chains is $577 from $1650, and Givenchy sandals are $290 from $700.
DSW is secretly discounting all of its Gucci shoes an additional 25% off when you add them to your cart. Sylvie loafers with a block heel are $374 from $890, strawberry print sneakers are $337 from $550, and fur-lined Princetown slides are $562 from $890.
If you’ve been deprived of shopping the Ssense private sale you should keep checking back to the site as it’s continuously adding more merchandise to the public portion of the sale. A Rick Owens puffer with a funnel neck is $1300 from $2270, new style Saint Laurent pumps are $440 from $845, and this purple wool Saint Laurent Jamie bag is $1474 from $1890.
If you’re still in need of shoes, Savannah’s is clearing out past season shoes at 70% off. These Alexander McQueen pumps are $267 from $900 snd these Manolo booties are $600 from $1200.
Looking back, Saks discounts topped 70% off. This Loewe bag is still available for $1225 from $2750, this Prada dress is 70% off or $447 from $1500, and this Givenchy mini Mystic is $1743 from $2500. Click this way to see the full blog post with lots of great outfit inspiration.
Also this week, I had an amazing time trying on clothing during an Instagram Live at Ba&shOnline shoppers can use this link and use the code MADISONAVESPY to save an exclusive additional 25% off. (It’s the best discount you’ll find anywhere.) Get to the full blog post to see all my favorite items and see the try-ons I did at the store. The promo ends Monday.

HauteFind is currently offering a flash sale where men’s Fall Valentino fashion and accessories are up to 85% off. This sweater is $240 from $795, and Rockstud sneakers are $313 from $695. I also spotted this Glam Lock bag that’s $786 from $2245. You can see the full blog post here. A little hint, add your favorite item to the cart and you’ll find some extra discounts.

MatchesFashion also just started a promotion where a majority of sale merchandise is an additional 20% off. You can use the code EXTRA20 to engage the additional savings at checkout. These classic Valentino high boots come to just $800 from $2065, Saint Laurent high boots are  $542 from $1700, and a heavy gauge Isabel Marant cable knit sweater is $442 from $1130.The promotion ends Monday.

My favorite haunt of the week has been Net-a-Porter, where discounts hit 80% off. This Fendi ski jacket is $1800 from $3600 and Valentino gloves are $190 from $635. You can see more of our finds this way.

I had no idea what a busy week it was until I started this post. I think I need a vacation, well, more than a new Chanel bag. That’s for sure.

Until next week…same time same place?

Saks Designer Sale Up to 70% OFF

Sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Shopstyle

My favorite time of year has arrived. It’s final markdown season and Saks Fifth Avenue started its Designer Sale where the discounts are up to 70% off! Saks always has the best selection, which makes sale shopping even more eventful.

There are so many great sale items that you can easily style a head-to-toe look in a snap and save a bundle too. I found this great Zimmerman dress that’s now $690 from $1150. It’s the perfect transitional item that can work seamlessly for most seasons. Pair it with these Manolo Blahnik woven heels that are $298 from  $745 and this Rejina Pyo croc-embossed bag that’s $256 from $685. I love the mix of textures as the outfit comes together with the consistency of neutral colors.

Other great sale items include these L’Agence linen pants that are $77 from $265, which happens to pair beautifully with this Zimmerman floral print silk blouse that’s $288 from $480. I also love these Theory plaid pants ($213 from $355) paired with these Aquazzura slingbacks ($340 from $850). You can choose just about any color solid sweater but I personally like this Bordeaux cashmere turtleneck from Theory that’s $155 from $345.
