    Weekend Shopping: Impulses & Obsessions

Congratulations! You made it to sale season. This week, nearly every US department and boutique started markdowns ahead of the big holiday weekend. It’s all been very exciting and a bit overwhelming but we have a little secret: There is a lot more to come.

So far, retailers have only discounted a few designers. Coming up this week, we should see a lot of European designers added to the mix. We expect to see markdowns on Balenciaga, Valentino, Givenchy, and Fendi. A third sale drop will happen in mid-June and include the most premium designers, like Dior and Celine.

Before that happens, it’s worth taking a recap of markdowns:
Intermix: 40% off designer and an extra 30% off weekend promotion (Click here for more details.)
Neiman Marcus: Uo to 50% off
    Nordstrom: Up to 50% off
Shop375: 40% off already discounted prices with the code MEMORIALDAY40

Saks Fifth Avenue Summer Sale Begins

Sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue and ShopStyle Collective
Saks Fifth Avenue started its Designer Sale yesterday. It’s not a moment too soon because as temperatures hit 80-degrees there is nothing more than I want to pull off my sweats and slink into a pretty sundress. With prices reduced up to 50% it’s hard to resist.

Above are some of our favorite dresses newly added to the Saks sale. Be sure to check out all the great options from Zimmerman, Sea, Staud, and more

Remember, this is the Summer of the roaring 20s it’s best to keep many options available. Lucky Saks has everything you need and more. Shop now while the sale is hot and the assortment is plentiful.

Saks Sale Begins: Up to 50% off

The designer sale at Saks Fifth Avenue started today. Discounts top 50% off but most items are reduced by about 40%. The best selection for shoe addicts is among styles from Manolo Blahnik, Alexandre Birman and Gianvitto Rossi. You can see some pictures that we captured from inside the store here. Those looking for Chanel sale at Saks can tap this way. There isn’t much that’s notable among the handbag markdowns but we are sure more will be added in the coming weeks.

    Weekend Shopping: Impulses & Obsessions

Earlier this week, I asked a salesman at Bergdrofs about Chanel markdowns and was abruptly told that there was no Chanel sale. “We haven’t even started designer markdowns. IF Chanel goes on sale it won’t be until much later in the season,” he flatly responded.

I can never tell if these falsities are made out of pure ignorance or if salespeople think it’s okay to assume the customer is ill-informed and can be persuaded to buy merchandise at full price. Either way, this type of arrogance creates an environment of mistrust and should be avoided. The real responsibility begins at the top. It’s incumbent upon top management and brands to foster an exchange of accurate information and give the customer a sense of confidence. That’s how loyalty is created.

Chanel’s bi-annual officially opens to the public on May 25. Lots of presales and VIP previews are already underway. You can tap over to our Chanel sale post to review a sampling of merchandise that’s included in the markdown. Shoe inventory from Bergdrofs and lots of RTW from Saks were just added to the post.

Nordstrom started its VIP preview of designer markdowns on Friday. You can access the sale through this link. The markdowns are mostly 40% off. The sale section contains lots of Chloe and Zimmerman. We are expecting more brands to join the sale section in the coming week.
At Cettire, discounts are already up to 40% off on Spring and Summer merchandise. You can use the code DMMAY10 to save an additional 10% off. (The code excludes Gucci, Dior, Bulgary, and Louboutin.) The site has lots of great Prada and Fendi

Earlier this week, the Ssense sale went live to everyone. The discount is up to 50% off. You will notice that some of the designer brands aren’t available yet but don’t miss the sale options from Fendi and Loewe. You can see all of our favorite sale items here

Intermix also started its designer sale. Lots of merchandise is reduced by 40% off of retail. Be on the lookout for extra discounts throughout the sale section. It should make for some very good shopping opportunities. You can see the highlights here

MatchesFashion announced the start of its seasonal sale. The discount is slated up to 50% off. There isn’t a ton of new markdowns in the sale section but there are a few items that are notable. The best of sale can be found in the full post

The 24S sale has discounts up to 40% off and includes a very good assortment of designer merchandise including Fendi, Moreau, and Chloe. Be sure to check out the “Ultimates” selection, which contains Louis Vuitton and Celine under retail.
This coming week will be very busy with markdowns. In the past few seasons, we have seen brands phase into the sale section. We expect this season will have a similar cadence.
Stay tuned. This is where all the fun begins. Until next time… same time, same place?
