The cummerbund is having a moment, and it’s moved well beyond black tie. I kept spotting them in pictures from Paris Fashion Week, worn over trousers, skirts and dresses, almost like an oversized statement belt. The versions I like best are made from brocade and other richly textured fabrics, with lots of color and pattern.
I pulled a full edit, but also went down a rabbit hole looking at vintage Japanese obis and other intricate woven pieces that can give you the same effect. There are options at every price point, from designer versions like Valentino to Etsy and handmade finds from around the world. My favorite pairing is simple: denim, a crisp white shirt and an eye-catching cummerbund.
