    Weekend Shopping: Obsessions & Impulses

    The sale season is quickly coming to a close but there are still so many markdowns and sales to discuss. NEW: Fresh markdowns can be found at Tessabit. This Alexander Mcqueen knuckle clutch is $955 from $1990, a Versace tee is $120 from over $300, and this Valentino camera bag is $710 from $1480. There are lots more finds in the scroll below. 

    The most extreme discounts can be found at Bergdorf Goodman (and Neiman Marcus). Sale merchandise is an additional 30% off, which brings the total savings over 70% off on many items. 
    There is a great assortment of Manolo Blahnik shoes in the sale section. Some standouts include these giraffe print shoes for $191 from $685, woven sport sandals are $194 from $700 and floral heels are $217 from $775. Sizes are spotty, so it’s best to filter to just your size. Other sale standouts include Chloe scalloped ballet flats for $241 from $575, this blazer from The Row is $280 from $1600 and this Balenciaga floral print blouse is $288 from $1650. 

    Moda Operandi is offering an extra 10% off sale items with the code SALE10. The Valentino selection happens to be very good and the discounts, after the promotion, top 60% even on handbags. This mini clutch is $790 from $1745 and this belt is $450 from $1000. This Balenciaga tote comes to $670 from $1500 and pool slides are $290 from $500. The promotion ends Monday.
    Looking back on the week, our favorite discounts were found at Net-A-Porter. Sale merchandise is an extra 15% off, which brings the total savings to over 75% on some items. Among the shoes are these Chloe boots for $700 from $1175 and Fendi slides are $350 from $700.      If you’re looking for new season thrills I suggest you set your sights on Italist. The site is a destination that I love to shop at the beginning of the season because it oftentimes has the hottest items for even a little less. 
    Prada nylon items are a great example. The site is fully restocked for the season. This nylon pouch is $360 from $575 US. This wicker and nylon bag is selling out fast and is $1533 from $1750. Here is the smoking hot Prada Cleo is $1809 from $1990 US and the Prada Odette is $2000 from $2350 US. Some other good new season buys include this Bottega Cassette Chain bag for $3300 from $3800 and this gorgeous woven clutch is $3370 from $4100. You can see more over here. 
     Nordstrom just started its final markdown and prices are reduced up to 70%. Some of the designer clothing standouts include this Balmain skirt that’s $500 from $1650, this Etro blouse is $390 from $1300, and this Balenciaga blazer is $727 from $2500.     Italist: New Season Finds & 70% Discounts

    We are finding ourselves at that time of the season where discounts are extreme but most of what is available isn’t very aesthetically desirable or might still be too expensive even with the steepest markdowns. It’s also that time of year where the new season of fashion begins to hit stores and excite shoppers with all of its newnesses.

    The latest merchandise is unlikely to be found on sale but there are a few places to find a slight price advantage. Italist is one destination that we love to shop as the hottest pieces can sometimes be found for less money than other retail formats.

    Prada nylon items are a great example. The site is fully restocked for the season. This nylon pouch is $360 from $575 US. This wicker and nylon bag is selling out fast and is $1533 from $1750.     If you’re looking for the very best deals, you should change the sort to older seasons. It might take some scrolling but there is always something good hidden.

    Nordstrom: Final Markdown

    All those gift items we’ve been eyeing but having purchase are now ripe for picking. Nordstrom just started it’s final markdown. Prices are reduced up to 70% and there are no shortages of items from which to choose.

    The most highly reduced shoes are only available in one or two sizes. These Chloe platform sandals are $225 from $750 and  Jimmy Choo pumps are $315 from $1050. 
    There are really no reduced handbags worth mentioning but there is a lot of clothing in the sale mix. Some of the designer clothing standouts include this Balmain skirt that’s $500 from $1650, this Etro blouse is $390 from $1300, and this Balenciaga blazer is $727 from $2500.

    Remember, Nordstrom is great at price matching. If you see something for less money at another store, make the purchase and call for an adjustment. Nordstrom’s great customer service never fails.

    Ssense New Public Sale Markdowns

    The Ssense sale has been very peculiar this season. The site started a system that only allows prior customers to shop from the best selection of sale merchandise, in its private sale edit. Those who haven’t purchased from Ssense cannot even see the markdown prices.

     

    Slowly  Ssense started migrating private sale merchandise into its universal sale category. There are a few great Fendi sale items that just become public. This Large Kan U bag is $1712 from $2600, a small Kan U is $1224 from $1900, and this pencil skirt is $476 from $850. There are also some available Saint Laurent items like this Saint Laurent So Kate is $1833 from $2350 and Opyum heels are $790 from $1000.  There are also lots of Alexander McQueen sneakers that are discounted up to 40% off. 
    If you still need a winter jacket but don’t want to cough up the big bucks Duvetica is a great Moncler alternative. The jackets are the same fabrication as Moncler but much less expensive. This silver puffer is $462 from $1050 and this longer style is $431 from $990. 
    We also suggest you check out the men’s sale, which contains a lot of unisex items. This Versace tee is $155 from $245 and this Off-White tee is $214 from $350.

    MatchesFashions Discounts Dip to 70% off

     New year. New discounts. Today, MatchesFashion took another round of price cuts. The new markdowns bring the most extreme savings to 70% off. 

    The Balmain discounts are exceptional. This Balmain tee is now $163 from $272, a classic Balmain double-breasted jacket is $980 from $2450 and this newer style jacket is just $627 from $1255. We spotted these Loewe loafers that are still available in several sizes for $483 from $700 and Saint Laurent knee-high boots are $638 from $1600. Don’t miss this little Givenchy GV3 for $875 from $1350 and these Alexander McQueen studded slingbacks are $445 from $890. 

    Before the end of the season MatchesFashion usually offers an additional discount promotion and prices can go as low as 80% off. Just don’t expect the really good stuff to last.

    Holiday Edition: Obsessions & Impulses

    Looking back on 2020, it’s hard to believe where we started compared to where we stand today. We’ve certainly had our ups and downs, ins and outs, and most everything in between. The beginning of the New Year is always a poignant time to look back on your accomplishments.

    When it comes to MadSpy, that will always translate to shopping. It would be embarrassing to admit how much I’ve purchased and haven’t even had the opportunity to wear. At one point, I had a pile of shoe boxes that resembled the Leaning Tower of Pisa. (I guess when you can’t travel you create your own sightseeing landmarks.)

    The retail acquisition that most resonates is a plaid pair of Manolo Blahnik Hangisi shoes that caught my eye as part of early spring arrivals. (That’s pre-pandemic.) They hit the deep markdown in May at 60% off or $426 from $990. I cashed in all my Nordstrom points, which brought the total price to $27. I refuse to calculate how much money was spent to accumulate all those points but I’ll still consider it a big win. What was your most memorable purchase of the year?

    Speaking of good purchases, the last week of the year doesn’t usually provide the most exciting shopping opportunities as retailers know that most people are otherwise distracted or panic buying with their returns. This week, however, supplied a few notable discount opportunities.

    Givenchy and Fendi are the most recent brands to hit the sale racks. The best selection can currently be found on Net-A-Porter.  Some of the highlights include this Givenchy Eden bag for $810 from $1350. Fendi slides are $450 from $750 and a Fendi logo hoodie is $700 from $990. At FWRD by Elyse Walker, I found this Givenchy velvet Nano Eden bag for $833 from $2450 and there’s this Givenchy cardigan for $815 from $1630. 
    Earlier this week, we snagged the private 50% off sale link to Prada and Miu Miu at Bergdorf Goodman. This bowling bag still remains at $1050 from $1750 and espadrilles are $295 from nearly $600. 
    Speaking of great finds, we struck gold with access when TheOutnet shared a private clearance sale link that can be found here. The deal even gets sweeter when combined with the code SURPRISE, which will save you an additional 40% off. This Bindi bag from The Row comes to $774 from $2150 and this Miu Miu skirt is $351 from $975. Lots more details and great finds can be found here.
