    Weekend Shopping: Impulses & Obsessions

It’s hard to believe it we are already in mid-July. Sale season started late and we are beginning to question purchases of sandals and beach bags as August quickly approaches. Wear now and save for vacation is always a good late-season game plan as prices get super attractive.

While we’ve been scrolling through reduced merchandise, new Fall fashion is starting to be received by stores. Many European shops allow for slight currency discounts, which makes early season shopping more attractive than ever. You also might suddenly start finding last season’s Winter sale merchandise attractive again. Below is a list of some of our favorite European stores with new season arrivals and all of the best Summer sale merchandise.

    LN-CC: Serious High-Style Fashion Discounts

Fashion has become very homogenized. Even at the highest price points, there are elements that are as common as a Starbucks coffee. There are items from Hermes, Chanel, Bottega, and Valentino that are standard in almost every curated fashion closet. Those looking to step out from the standard everyday fashion wardrobe can feel safe taking a risk when there is a good discount.

Right now, at the British store LN-CC, you can save up to 70% off. The esthetic key from LN-CC is to balance the juxtaposition of fragility and strength, tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity. Within those combinations, you’ll find a new look and possibly a fast break from the Chug.

July 4th: All the Sales You Need to Know About

July 4th is famous for explosive sales. Some even go as far as calling it ‘Christmas in July.’ It’s really an excellent time to shop, especially considering how much the sale calendar has shifted. In most years we would be evaluating third markdowns. We are just hitting second markdowns, which means there is still lots of good merchandise available. This Independence Day, however, is ripe with fresh fashion desires.

Most of the sales launch throughout the week and the upcoming rainy weather is a great excuse to begin scrolling. Below are some great current and upcoming sales. You can begin the add-to-cart exercise now. We will update the post throughout the holiday weekend.

July 4th Outlet Shopping: Tips and Inside Info

Outlet shopping is always a roll of the dice. You can either win big or leave empty-handed (or wallet-ed). After years of canvasing Woodbury Common, I have devised a few healthy outlet shopping rules:

    1. Go in with a shopping allowance. It’s never a good idea to spend money you don’t have but the regret of overspending is usually not worth even the best purchase. If you spend less than your “allowance” you can feel good and apply that extra money to something else you’ve been craving.

    2. Just because it’s cheap, doesn’t mean you need to own it. Many times there is a reason why an item is reduced so significantly. I definitely never needed three sets of Prada ankle gauntlets even at $25 each. I suppose they are cool but I’ve had them in the original box for about 17-years and still never used them.

    3. Beware of made-for-outlet merchandise. Even the brands like Bottega Veneta and Pradaproduce merchandise specifically for the outlet. At Prada, you can distinguish the outlet items because they will be marked “made in China”. At Bottega, the giveaway is multiple colorways of the same bag or shoe. Both aren’t necessarily bad but you should be aware of what you’re buying.

    4. Be aware of retail pricing and markdown ranges. Many stores offer discounts that aren’t as steep as what a savvy shopper can find at stores during the sale season. As a matter of fact, lots of current merchandise can be found for less right now at your local department store. Past season merchandise was often reduced much more dramatically before it went to the outlet.

    5. Always ask if there is an upcoming promotion and take the business card of your sales associate. Outlets tend to get overcrowded during holiday weekends and promotional times and it’s always good to have a contact name to call if you’re looking for something specific in the future. Also, you never know when you’ll have non-buyers regret and want to have an item shipped to you.

Now that we have some shopping guidelines, Thursday starts the July 4th holiday weekend and there are lots of extra discounts. Below are specifics at a variety of stores with contact emails. You can click here to see pictures from inside some stores.

    Celine

Most merchandise is 40% off and for the holiday the outlet is offering 3xtra 30% off Spring/Summer 2020 or up to 70% off older collections

    Dior

Most merchandise is 50% off and for the holiday weekend, the outlet will offer an extra 30% off.

    Dominic (kkudo@christiandior.com)

     Loewe
Discounts go up to 40% off and for the July 4th holiday, the Paula collection will be discounted an additional 20%. Take note, MatchesFashion has much better pricing for this collection.

    Golden Goose

All shoes and sneakers are 40% off. There are no promotions scheduled. Sizing is spotty and most styles are only available in size 25 or 40/41.
    storeny-wb@flag-ggdb.com

    Bottega Veneta
The outlet discount is 40% off on many items. Most of the selection is very old and real castoffs. There are a few structured Tomas Maier bags, are available by request, that are priced at $1000 from $4000. The made-for-outlet bags are not a horrible option for fans looking for a good buy.
    Fei fei.huang@bottegaveneta.com

    Prada
Discounts range up to 40% off. There is a holiday promotion but none of the sales associates would share the information. Most of the merchandise is aged and reduced far less than could otherwise be found at the end of the season. Items marked “made in China” are produced for the outlet. If you’re lucky enough to be in the “neighborhood” the Florence outlet offers a lot better discounts but is also hit-or-miss.

Haute Pursuit: High Sale Season Hack

It’s only the beginning of Summer and sale season is hot-hot-hot. While everything is essentially on sale it can take hours to find the best price. I have a hack that can save hours so that you can get back to your beach-side margarita.

Haute Pursuit makes it much easier to find the right item for the best price. The desktop browser extension actually scans thousands of websites to find alternative sale options while you’re already shopping. You can click here to download the extension to your browser now. Haute Pursuit will be available for mobile browsers in the Fall.)

Haute Pursuit will scan the product against 1000s of retailer’s websites to find you all the matches that are on sale. If you know exactly what you want, you can click the Haute Pursuit icon in your toolbar and enter a search term. The extension can be used with Safari, Chrome, or Firefox

Without Haute Pursuit I would have never found this Loewe tote for 70% off and I never expected to find this Fendi Vertigo print tote for nearly $500 less than it can be found locally before it dropped down like a silver parachute. The multi-colored version is nearly $1000 less than US retail.

These Manolo Hangisi classics were delivered to my computer screen for 40% off retail. You’re not going to find this Prada puffer at this price again and these Prada nylon synch bags sell out in a hot minute. Search “Loewe Obi” and you might get a pleasant surprise.

All of these deals would have taken hours to pinpoint and there is a great chance that they would have gone unnoticed. Haute Pursuit saves you time and money. That’s a combination that’s essentially priceless.

Downloading the  Haute Pursuit extension is very easy and will immediately engage. Just one note for Chrome users: After downloading, hit the puzzle piece next to your search bar and hit the pin icon. Feel free to contact us at hello@hautepursuit.co if you have any questions, feedback, or comments.

Now, check it out now and apply an extra layer of sunscreen.

6/30 Saks: New Markdowns Up to 70% Off

Saks Fifth Avenue started a new round of markdowns today but is still experimenting with their Private Access format. To see the discounts you must use the following series of links: Women’s clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, and men’s designer selections. Below are some of our favorite items but remember that you must click the initializing links for each department before you see the discounting pricing.

Some items need to be placed in your cart to see the final price, which is often even lower than what’s displayed. (It’s all very confusing and not so shopping friendly.)
