This week was huge for additional discount promotions. We saw both Net-A-Porter and MatchesFashion offer promotions of an additional 20% off sale prices. Most of the highly reduced bags and shoes are already sold out but it’s the perfect time to pick up a few pieces of fashion to take you through the end of the Summer.
Nordstrom also started it’s Anniversary Sale. You can click here to see our shopping edit. I always like to use this sale to buy the kids a few items for back-to-school, like sneakers and backpacks.
So far this weekend, I fell upon a few great Gucci pieces from Kirna Zabete. I am crazy about the beach bag I picked up from 24S.com and can’t get over shipping box and presentation. I can’t wait to get something new from them to open the box again. You can use the code 20More to save an extra 20%, which is just another excuse to buy more.
Below is a compilation of a few of my favorite sale things. I will be sure to update this post as I scroll uncover more impulse purchases.
Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The “Half-Yearly Sale” and the “Anniversary Sale.” The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.
Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog options right here.
The presale runs to July 18 but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterward, on July 20, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.
Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $36 from $60. Nike kicks are $45 from $65. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here is a Champion backpack for $47, which is normally $70. There is also a large amount of cute shorts in case you need to do a mid-season refresh. We even spotted Stokke Xplorer that’s discounted to $785.
We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a classic Veronica Beard tweed blazer is $435 from $650. We really like this Tibi faux python skirt that’s $280 from $242 and this blazer resembles the shape of a Balmain blazer but it’s under $400. is just and I really don’t mind these tweed style pumps for about $100. We even found a S’well for $22.
The selection this season isn’t quite as good as last year but there is still a lot of temptation. It’s interesting that designers have realized that pre-gaming sale season is better than post-season markdowns. Don’t forget to also check out the beauty deals. We are always a sucker for a new shade of lipstick or an updated nail polish
The pressure is on online luxury retailers and MatchesFashion is the most recent site to add a little promotion to their final markdown. Starting today, you can save an additional 20% off fall and winter merchandise, which has already been reduced up to 70% off. Use the code EXTRA20 at checkout to reveal the discounted price.
Here is a Balmain blazer that comes to $900 from $1885. (I always say, under $1000 is the right price for this item.) This neutral color Staud bag is $530 from $1100 and this Saint Laurent studded bucket bag is $580 from $1200. This Roksanda bag for $400 from $1000 seems like a sensible purchase.
At this point of the season, most of my “investment” purchases have been made and I’m shopping for some more “inexpensive thrills.” Here is a Dodo Bar Or top that’s a sustainable purchase at just $100 from $252. Here is the matching skirt. It’s actually an adorable outfit for about $180. This white dress from Sea is about $270 from $560 and this Roksanda dress for $650 from $2000 is a keeper.
Usually, the most reduced items are from prior seasons but that doesn’t seem to be the case. There is really a good selection from which to shop if you’re still looking to boost your wardrobe through the end of the Summer.
This is what end-of-season shoppers call the final bow. Net-A-Porter is ending their season by offering an extra 20% off some sale merchandise. The sale kicks off on Thursday.
No code is needed to engage the additional. Just look for items identified “Sale Must Have.” (You can see all the eligible items directly in this link.) Once the item is in your cart, and you’ve proceeded to the second page of checkout, the savings will automatically be applied. When you use the extra 20%, the purchase becomes final sale and can’t be returned.
We don’t know what exactly what items will be included in the extra markdown but last year Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, and Fendi were included. Usually, the most heavily reduced merchandise is not eligible for the extra 20% off.
This promotion is usually a shopping frenzy. We suggest you start adding items to your cart now and then remove the non-applicable merchandise once the promotion code is live. We will be sure to add item pictures and examples once the sale is officially live.
This sale will run through August 13 but everyone knows that the best items will be gone in the first few hours. Take note, next time you see this selection it will be on the Outnet and prices will be higher.
Shopbop is offering a deal that might be hard to refuse. Right now, a selection of spring and summer merchandise is already discounted 70% off but for two days you can save an extra 25%. Use the code EXTRA19 at checkout to engage the additional savings.
I’m actually very surprised about how many great items I found. Check out this dress “beach party dress” from Isa Arfen that’s reduced to about $150 from $650. This Free People beach maxi cover-up comes to about $100 from nearly $200. It’s technically called the ‘Mykonos Maxi Tom’ and I believe it needs to live out its destiny. I’m also in love with this Koche patchwork sundress that’s already 70% off and comes to $322 from $1440.
This Brandon Maxwell outfit is a dream and it’s 70% off. I can’t decide between the top or the pants. I might need to get them both. I also wouldn’t mind a pair of these Dannijo earrings that come to $55 from $245. This Hayward corduroy bag is totally worth $170 from $790. I have one in suede and it’s a great item. You won’t regret it.
As far as sales go, ShopBop’s selection seems to be pretty on point. There is a large assortment of price points and even sizes that are still available. Seems like a good opportunity to pick up something extra nice before your big August vacation.
As we begin to near the end of the sale season cycle, size options will become a little thin and prices tick up and down from site to site. Our latest browsing session brought us SSense. Discounts on the Canadian site seem to be near or exceed even the steepest local markdowns.
In addition to the steep discounts, there is also a really eclectic assortment that isn’t abundant State-side. We find that the site has the best collection of Instagram-able luxury streetwear style. Here is a Versace tee that’s reduced to $189 from $300. The black version is slightly more. The epitome of street style, Off White, is even more highly reduced. Here is a long-sleeved tee for $125 from $415 and this terry cloth hoodie is $260 from $700. Palm Angles might even be a little cooler for lack of overexposure and these leggings are just $99 from $325. There are also lots of Heron Preston and Balenciaga.
You should take note that the most reduced items are final sale. At some point, Ssense does an extra 20% off. We just aren’t sure when it can be expected.
Everyone is still recovering from a long holiday week but we are ready to trade in our Havaianas for Hangisis. The Manolo Blahnik boutique will begin its second markdown on Monday. The sales assortment is better than ever as ownership is changing hands. (You can read a more substantial explanation in our previous Manolo post.)
This most recent markdown follows the 33% discount that started last month. The next, and final, markdown is always our favorite as it offers the best shopping opportunity of the season. We expect that the final price cut will come at the end of the month. Prices normally range from $195 to $350.
You can expect to find a full assortment of shoes from the Summer collection and even lots of classics that don’t usually go on sale. Personally, we are waiting to make our major purchases. After all, so many shoppers are still out of the city. You can click here to see the reports from Manolo’s past final markdowns or slide through the pics to see what similar discounts can be found online.

July 4th is famous for explosive sales. Some even go as far as calling it ‘Christmas in July.’ Considering the recent third markdowns at department stores– like Barneys, Bergdofs, and Saks— it’s more like New Year’s in July.
Unfortunately, Net-A-Porter’s July 4th markdown was a fizzle but we did finally relent and cash out our shopping cart. The purchases didn’t end there. The French boutique, 24 Sévres is offering an extra 20% off with the code 20MORE, which brings the discount to nearly 70% off on many items. After, you can use the code July20 to save an extra 20% off shoes on Farfetch and MyTheresa’s‘ extra 20% off discount doesn’t require a code.
Just remember, the holiday promotions don’t end with the fireworks. Extended sales have become as much of a tradition as the underlying sale. The bonus day, final hours and last chances are as commonplace as an afterparty.
Below is a compilation of a few of our favorite things. We can’t wait until they arrive. We will be sure to update this post as we scroll and cart more items.
