Manolo Blahnik Second Markdown 50% Off

The streets are practically fully plowed and the streets are clear of traffic and congestion. What to do? Head over to Manolo Blahnik boutique’s second markdown. The sale started Monday but federal holidays and snow has kept the store quite and the inventory running practically at full stock.

This most recent markdown follows the 33% discount but proceeds the final and best shopping opportunity of the season. The final markdown is always one of our favorite sales and normally occurs the first week of February. Prices range from $195 to $350. Most shoes and low boots– even highly ornate styles– are priced at $250.

We took a quick browse through the boutique and fond the store to be rather quiet. There is a full assortment of shoes from the winter collection and many still have full size ranges. We are personally waiting make our major purchases in February! After all, it is the month of love.

Cesare Paciotti 70% Off Friends and Family Sale

There’s nothing like a great sale to motivate you to brave the snow drifts and leave your house. Good thing we have the perfect boutique occasion. Sexy French shoe designer, Cesare Paciotti (say: Pa-cho-tee), is hosting a friends and family sale where shoes, bags and accessories will be available at 70% off.

The sale begins Wednesday, January 22 (snow-optimistic) and runs though Friday, January 24. The discount can only be applied when used at the brand’s three free-standing boutiques: Beverly Hills, Bal Harbor and Madison Avenue.

Those who are travelly impaired can begin browsing the collection online here. We especially love the cuissard boot that are priced under $450 from $1460 and these ankle boots that are $411 from $1375– are both classic Paciotti.

Just don’t expect to find any rain or snow boots here. The brand’s muse Carine Roitfeld never considers practically. After all, if your shoes never touch the pavement, the soles never get scuffed.

DVF Final Markdown with Sample Sale Prices

A season without a Diane von Furstenberg sample sale feels like leaving home without your favorite lipstick. Of course, a substitute will do, but the comforts of familiarity can aren’t easily substituted. Unfortunately, there are no upcoming dates to announce but the DVF is hosting a final sale online and prices aren’t far off from the iconic sample sale.

Through the end of Monday, shoppers can use the code JANUARY20 and save an extra 20% off already reduced merchandise. The prices at the sample sale usually run $150 for classic wrap dresses, $125 for non-wrap dresses and $80 for sweaters. If you had this way, and use the extra 20% off, you can pay just $130 for this wing print dress. A print wrap dress, which comes in red or pink, comes to $146. The price is the same for this combo print wrap dress. This python print silk dress is $150 and this knit dress is $120.

At the past sample sale, bags and accessories were a huge hit but they were still very pricey. Bags were priced at $285, clutches were $100 and scarves were $75. Online now, you can snag this studded bag (a la Valentino) for just $141 this snake-skin combo tote for $210. Most scarves, like this one, are $80.

The best part of this sale is that there a no lines, no crowded fitting room and purchases are returnable. Unfortunately, we don’t usually come across sample sales with the same consumer friendly rules.

Peter Pilotto Markdowns or Target Collab?

Peter Pilotto for Target doesn’t hit stores until February 9th but frenzy for the Brit designer’s wild prints is starting to begin. The lookbook from the collaboration was just released this week and includes a lot of eye popping printed dresses ranging in price from $30 to $80. The collection also includes lots of skirts, shoes, rash guards, swimwear, bags and accessories. You can see the entire collection here, on Fashionista.

In the meantime, we would highly suggest snagging some Peter Pilotto during this season’s last round of markdowns. It might cost you a bit more than Target but at least you’re getting the real thing and the real quality. Neiman Marcus has a Peter Pilotto sequined shift dress reduced to $528 from $1500. The Saks Fifth Avenue flagship has practically a full rack of the designer’s prints that are reduced about 75%, including additional inshore discounts. On Saks.com there’s a reglan sleeve print dress for $435 from $1450. Kirna Zibete, in Soho, has a long sleeve top for $250 from $630 and Farfetch is selling a fine knit print dress for $392 from $785.

We realize that even the marked down prices on Peter Pilotto’s colorful designs are considerably more than a Target price point. Take note, however, that resale values for this designer are pretty good. At least you can sell your designer dress for close to these sale prices. The Target values fare as well as the seams.

    Hervé Léger Boutique 70% Off

The Hervé Léger boutique, on Madison Avenue, has started the bi-annual clearance sale where winter clothing, shoes and accessories are reduced up to 70% off. The sale is also online but the prices aren’t as good as in the store.

Inside the boutique you will find a yellow and black bondage dress reduced to $375 from $1250, an orange/red signature style bondage dress is $315 from $1050 and an essential black a-line skirt is $234 from $780. There is even a classic one-shoulder black dress that’s $435 from $1450.

Sizes do tend to sell out quickly. If all else fails you can shop Neiman Marcus, which still a decent selection of sale dresses from the master of bondage.

A Look Inside Barneys Final Markdown

It’s now final markdown season and it’s so much fun to see how the different department stores are clearing the last of their winter inventory. Earlier this week, we searched through the Consolidation Sale at Saks Fifth Avenue and today we took a tour of Barneys final markdown. The discount there is up to 75% off.

What’s left at the chicest Madison Avenue luxury emporium? Lets take a look. (Pictures from our shopping trip are through the jump below.)

Starting on the first floor, you can still find a small selection of bags that are generally reduced 50% to 50% off. A Bottega Veneta spiked hobo is $1689 from $3420, a Chloe Marci bag is $759 from $1950 and a Lanvin messenger style bag is $1149 from $2300. Besides for the larger bags, there is also a small selection of clutches and gloves. We have a feeling, that if you stake out the section long enough, you could catch a really great bag on the way back in via returns.

Heading to the clothing floors of the store. You can still find a great variety of fashion. Most coats are still on the first markdown. A Lanvin died fox coat is $15,899 from $25,495 but a Derek Lam gold skirt is down to $1000 from $3890. A navy ribbed Lanvin sweater dress that’s reduced to $339 is a bit more wearable and affordable. If you’re looking for a long leather moto vest from Maison Martin Margiela (a.k.a. Mar-geel-ya) there’s one left, following three markdowns. The final price is $849 from $3390.

Heading up to shoes, the selection at Barneys rivals what’s left at Saks. We couldn’t resist thigh high leather Celine boots, which are sure to be even hotter next Winter. The department is also filled with Chanel sneakers galore, priced at $319 from almost $800.  Saint Laurent cap toe Janis heels are $299 from $775. Celine Mary Jane boots are $519 from $1290 and Chanel leather booties are $779 from $1295. You can also find a selection of Louboutins on their third markdown like PVC pumps for $389 from $975 and crystal embellished Daffodiles for $2559 from $6395.

It seems as if Barneys.com has straightened out a lot of their inventory problems during sale season. We can’t vouch that you will get all the items from your online shopping cart but you can be comforted by the fact that the online prices are consistent with the store. And that my friends, is a lot more than can be said about J. Crew.

    Inside Saks Consolidation Sale

The Saks Consolidation Sale started this past Thursday and we couldn’t wait another moment to infiltrate the clearance event. All of the designer clearance merchandise is on the 9th floor. This year, there seems to be a lot more inventory than previous years and, still, more merchandise is expected. The best part is that everything is an additional 25% off.

As you enter the consolidation department, we suggest heading right, near the children’s department. (Online shoppers can proceed by clicking here.) There you will find a selection of clouting from designers like Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Giambattista Valli, Moschino, Etro and Proenza. A black and white Courreges dress dress is $886 from $2215, a Jason Wu leather and wool military jacket is $1110 from $2775, a print Etro dress is $1232 from $3089, a Marni cotton shift dress is just $165 from $236 and a dress from the Row with suede and lace detail is $1240 from $3100. Mind you, these are the sticker prices. Each item is an additional 25% off, which brings the total savings to 80% on some items.

Among our favorite pieces is a Aquilano Rimondi dress for $708 from $1180 or just about $490 with the additional discount. Derek Lam wool pants with a lace overlay come to a total of $720. (You can see a full set of pictures from the sale after the jump.)

If you’re looking for bags and shoes, we suggest shopping elsewhere. The selection of reduced bags located near the right elevator bank is dismal. There are barely two dozen styles, most of which are Marc Jacob. The best of the bunch is a Marni tote that’s about $500 from $832. (There’s no additional discount on the bags.) The selection of discount shoes isn’t much better. There areonly six racks of shoes, most of which are generally undesirable.

As we’re sure you can take away, the Saks Consolidation sale is rather good for clothing. The sale is especially good if you’re fan of bold prints. We suggest shopping the 9th floor several times over the next two weeks. There should be a rather steady flow of new merchandise from other North Eastern Saks stores.

Save the Date: Dennis Basso Sample Sale

This has been a Winter of extremes. One day it’s 3-degrees and the next day it’s 51-degrees. On the bright side,  it keeps your full wardrobe in rotation. For the below zero days we have been yearning to layer ourselves with fur.

A simple fur coat will not do. We are imagining a colorful short horizontal mink with cropped sleeves to show off decadent gloves or stacked bracelets. How about the perfectly elegant dress to go under it too? Dream no more. The Dennis Basso sample sale is scheduled to run from Sunday, January 25 through Wednesday, January 29th. Discounts will go up to 85% off.

In addition to the traditional furs, the sale will also include fur vests, cashmere coats, raincoats, gowns, clothing. The sale will also have a variety of handbags, accessories, fur throws and pillows. That’s about all we need for our next trip to Aspen. Just wait, Mr. Basso will add skis to the mix next season.
