The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public Friday. We like to think of the promotion as a Fall pre-presale and it's a great opportunity to stock up on items that you will need as soon as temperatures start heading south or even some fun items you can enjoy now.
This year's prices and the assortment is stellar. We sorted through the entire inventory from the women's and kid's sale sections. Below are some of our favorites items:
TheOutnet is hosting a huge sale on Tuesday morning where everything will be discounted 80%. In addition to clothing, the sale will include shoes, bags and jewelry.
If you don't see what you like, we suggest you continue to check back. We are told even more merchandise will be added throughout the week. We have a feeling that enough damage can be done right now. Just be warned, all sales are final.
Fashion shoppers have more choices then ever. There are the super luxury companies that are the main influencers of trend and style, there are the lower priced-copycats and the middle of the road contemporary brands. The newest trend in retail is the emergence of companies like M. Gemi that produce top quality fashion for no-frills prices.
For the uninitiated, M.Gemi is a direct-to-consumer company that offers handcrafted Italian shoes for no frills prices. Most recently, M. Gemi raised $18 million in Series B funding and is turning fashion and retail on it's ear. What's even better, is the site is hosting its twice-yearly sale were their finely crafted footwear is reduced 50%.
In a sea of $1500 shoes we love that these M. Gemi offers a section that is affordable enough to match to any item in your closet. After all, it's the shoe that make the outfit... and the bag... and the jewelry...
Melania Trump took the RNC main stage tonight wearing British designer, Roksanda Illincic. The dress is currently available on Net-A-Porter in black or white. The price is $2200 and is selling out quickly.
The 'Margot' dress is made of a blend of ivory cotton and silk and designed with a nipped-in waist and dramatic bell sleeves in a contrasting basketweave. There is also a crepe option in hot pink that's $1365.
Roksanda Illincic has dressed many other celebrities including Kate Middleton, Shailene Woodley, Jessica Paré, Anne Hathaway, and a whole roster of stylish stars. The designer is known for super-modern, sculptural shapes, bright color schemes. If you don't catch the Margo dress, be sure to snag some of the designer's past season looks that are currently reduced up to 70% off.
Here a long-sleeve mini-dress with a eye-catching pink pointed collar for $440 from $1700, a color block maxi-dress is $972 from $4200 and bell-sleeve top is about $500 from $1000. There is also a full selection of even older merchandise on TheOutnet that's reduced up to 80%.
The streets are steaming hot. What to do when you need to get out of your over air-conidtioned environment? Head over to Manolo Blahnik boutique's second markdown. The sale starts Monday and we've been told that the inventory is running practically at full stock.
This second markdown 60% off, which is much more than usual. Surrounding department store competition must be putting pressure on the exclusive boutique. The prior markdown started after July 4th and was just a 30% discount.
We imagine that the next markdown will occur as usual in early August and will provide the best shopping opportunity of the season. The final markdown is always one of our favorite sales. Prices range from $195 to $350. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $250.
Expect to find a full assortment of shoes from the summer collection. Personally, we are waiting to make our major purchases in August. After all, everyone is out of the city. You can click here and here to see the reports from past final markdowns. (If you can't get to the boutique, you can scroll through the major Manolo markdowns we found elsewhere.)

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The "Half-Yearly Sale" and the "Anniversary Sale." The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.
Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog right here.
The presale runs from July 11th to July 21st but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterwards, on July 22, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.
Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $35 from $55. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here are Hunter rain boots with buckles which are $70 from $115. There is even this Quicksilver backpack that's $45 from $60. We even spotted this Supa Monster stroller that's $260 from $350.
We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a DVF fit and flare dress caught our eye for $270 from almost $450. A casual camo jacket from Topshop is just $73 from $110 and there is an really amazing selection of workout wear with great discounts.
The selection this season is the best we can remember. It's a novel idea to have the opportunity to buy new season merchandise at a significant savings. Identifying what you want for Fall is a bit more difficult but surely worth the effort. Sometimes it pays to plan ahead....
If you're a fan of Bergdorf Goodman then we suggest you head to 57th Street right away. The Lavender Lady is offering customers an extra 20% off sale items for a total discount of 80% off.The extra promotion is already available online and will be available in stores starting on Thursday and run through Saturday.
There are literally thousands of items discounted to mere pennies on the dollar. It's hard not to fill up a full cart of goodies. The best part is that all shipping and returns are free. Even ultra-discounted merchandise can be returned up to 30-days. Now, those are some policies we can get behind....
Tuesday is sure to become the second annual (over-hyped) Amazon Prime Day. We are told that the sale will include 100,000 deals worldwide with a new 'deal' offering every five minutes.
We suggest keeping an eye on clothing and luxury beauty products, which will be an extra 30% off. The best deals, however, will come from Amazon-owned Shopbop where all designer sale merchandise will be reduced an extra 25% off starting on Wednesday. Just use the code DESIGNER25 at checkout.
None of these sales are live yet but we will be sure to update the post with our favorite picks. For now, you can browse these items that we've had our eye on since the last sale.
