Following the blockbuster Lilly Pulitzer collaboration at Target, we were very curious how Adam Lippes would be received. The New York-based designer is well known throughout the fashion world but his name recognition outside of the industry is probably a lot more spotty.
The Target capsule collection launched in stores and online today. The designer collaboration is comprised of about 50 items for men and women. Almost all the bags, tops, shoes, blankets and housewares almost all feature traditional buffalo plaid prints in a variety of colors. We are told that Lippes was “inspired by his Berkshires home.”
To gauge the response to the collection we hit the Harlem Target. In the early afternoon it appeared as if much of the collection was still available. Some sizes of clothing were sold out but the racks still had plenty of merchandise. Items like the plaid bucket bag and ‘Painterly Plaid’ tops were gone. There are still a good selection of shoes and most housewares are still available.
If you go online, almost all of the collaboration items are still available. The only sell out item– as far as we can see– is the plaid bucket bag. The heavy wool puffer vest is only available in an XL online and is sold out in Harlem.
There is still hope if you can’t find an item online or in a New York store. The Target in Bergen County, NJ is closed on Sundays, so they will open tomorrow morning completely stocked. If that doesn’t work– or is too complicated– we suggest waiting it out to see if the item you want gets returned. We also have a feeling that there will be lots of markdowns in the near future.
