Discounts in men’s boutiques traditionally starts a few weeks later than women’s wear. This weekend, Alfred Dunhill started their first markdown where most seasonal clothing, shoes and accessories are 30% off. Classic wool suits and blazers are about the only items not on sale. Cuff links, pens, belts and small leather goods are also being discounted 30%.
The greatest value is in the watch department where the discount is 60%. The company is awaiting a revamped line of timepieces and closing out the styles that are currently in stock. Before you male watch snobs turn up your nose, remember Dunhill is owned by Richemont Group, which also owns watch companies like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Towards the real end of the season the Dunhill discount usually closes in at 60% across the collection. We are told that there was a big budget cut this season and there isn’t as much inventory as usual. Truth or come-on? We’ll let you decide.
